Just look at the picture of this bar and you'll see why this is the epitome of the rural small-town dive bar. Â Â This is one of the most run down looking places I've ever visited, and I love it.
My friend looks considerably younger than his actual age so gets carded quite often. Â This was the first bar though scanned his drivers license electronically to verify his age. Â While that technology is pretty common now, we were surprised to find it in use in this tiny little shack in the middle of nowhere.
Being that we were from Kansas City and this town isn't on  the way to anything, the bartender was pretty nervous about us at first.  But she eventually warmed up to us and we had a nice time chatting with her.
Before we left I went to use the restroom. Â I was gone for several minutes and when I returned my friend asked me if I'd just taken a dump. Â
The bartender started laughing and said "I know what took him so long, he was probably trying to figure out how to turn on the light."
Which was true. Â :) Â It was pitch black back there, and the switch for the light is not in a logical location. Â I had to feel around for quite a while before I found it. :)
