Excellent casual dining in a hip and converted garage. Â The pulled pork sandwich was amongst the best I've had. Â It was pulled and not chopped like some places and extremely moist and juicy. Â My wife had the black bean burger and she raved about it.
Best lunch we had in our tour of the Leelenau Peninsula.
Vey good food in this quaint town of Northport, MI in Northern Michigan's scenic Leelanau County. This is a small foodie spot with a theme of an garage repair shop of yesteryear right down to the mechanics clamp lamps used for lighting.
Menu has a simple variety of fish, bbq, burgers and sandwiches with influences both local and beyond.
We started with the whitefish spread and crackers, taking advantage of the locally caught whitefish, this appetizer was very tasty, generous and a nice change of pace. For lunch my wife went with the BBQ pork sandwich which really needed two buns to hold all of the pork (not complaining); they did well to not over sauce it and the flavor was solid on smokiness but maybe a tad light on whatever rub they used on it. I chose the whitefish sandwich which was absolutely amazing! A light battering and fried just right so that it was on the verge of crisp and the fish just to the point of being cooked through. When I say fried just right, thats when the batter gains some flavor from the oil versus soaking in a bunch of oil which so many do and makes for a soggy mess; not here, they got it right!
Simple seating area for a couple dozen, and some outdoor seating as well. A small bar area for gathering or watching sports. Good service.
