Out-of-the-way, small town breakfast cafe with an outstanding German chef who never fails to come out of the kitchen to chat with the patrons and make sure his offerings were enjoyed. Â Garfield, Minnesota is but a whistle stop (population 221) on the cross-state bicycle trail that winds through some of the USA's most beautiful lake country.
Our family started with the heralded caramel roll - still warm from the oven. Â We then opted to "build our own omelettes with choice of 3 fillings" but found it hard to stop at 3! Â Killer 'shrooms, finely chopped peppers and the obligatory onions make a nice combo with melted Swiss. Â Even while trying to limit my carbs, I couldn't resist the "baby redskin hash browns" to complement my omelette. Â Yummm.
You gotta love the Minne"sooooootah" accent in these parts. Â Our waitress came with just a little attitude today but that is all part of the local color here in the north country. Â
I am a fan of any eatery where the chef comes out to "talk food" with this foodie. Â We'll be back!
Nice, clean diner with great breakfast options. Â My husband and I ordered the S.O.S. and the Philly Omelet. Â Both tasted great and had great presentation. Â The chef even came out and asked how our meal was! Â We'll be back....the fresh caramel rolls that were cooling on a nearby table are calling me.
