The Gate

I graduated in '08 from Ferris and that really wasn't that long ago but going to The Gate makes me feel old school. It's just not Big Rapids style so I can't get into it.

I do appreciate that coming from a much bigger town (Denver), The Gate made me feel like I was back in the civilized world. But more goes into a good business than being pretty and new.

I was at The Gate over homecoming weekend and what ended up being the last game in the Tigers series for the year. We went to The Gate to watch the game since its a sports bar but we were super disappointed to find out that they didn't even have the sound on. Before we left one of the girls in my party asked for a fruity martini drink and the waitress said "uhh yeahh we don't have those....but we have margaritas!?" WTF!? There is a full bar and since when are margaritas and martinis even slightly interchangeable. We should have run then but for some reason we didn't. After she got her drink she pounded it back and we tried to leave to go somewhere that was playing the game....with the sound. 30 mins later after asking 2 other waitresses for our check/waitress, we finally got up to leave and just left cash on the table to cover the bill. I would understand if it were busy but we were one of two tables in the eating area.
