Gathering Inn Restaurant

It has changed hands (it seems) and went from a pretty great place for breakfast/chow to yet another entry of "buy as much ready made from the provisions place, heat it or fry it, SERVE" place. They used to actually cook here and food was great. No more. It is trying to be a 'diner' and misses the mark. I love a greasy spoon more than a 5 star IF, and that is a big IF, if they cooked the food as opposed to bum rush it out of the kitchen and have as little human hands touch is as possible. We have tried a couple times to get a good breakfast there so later tater, BTW, you might want to cook them and season the friggin things.

Many locals are saying they wont go back, and many employee's that have worked their for a very long time have left. loyal folks that would go a mile for you. The lot has very few cars anymore, They have changed their hours, they open for breakfast at 8;30  My's well just open at 10, This use to be a country community gathering place, have a coffee something to eat,  talk to friends.  Question?   Why would anyone in their right mind stop there traveling on the freeway? I heard the people that own it buy real estate and resell,  maybe that's the plan. Hey!!!   if any body reading yelp from corporate that owns and manages restaurant chains,  there is a big demand for a restaurant on this exit.   Oh well   It's justthewayitis.

I really wanted to like this place, as a few locals have said it's fantastic.  We went there with my sisters and their husbands for breakfast one Saturday and it was packed. The food was okay, not great, not amazing, just okay.  It would have been better if the whole place didn't smell like sewage. I think they may need to fix their septic system, but the bathrooms were gross and every time someone opened the bathroom doors we got a huge whiff of sewage sludge.  We ordered some pies to take home, though, and they were delicious. I won't eat there again, it didn't seem particularly clean or sanitary.
