Geoduck is the bomb.  We watched seals and bald eagles while downing 1lb burgers.  I felt a bit sheepish about our drink orders (no one got a beer).  The Big Burger Dip was killer.  Don't listen to the haters.  Mom was gushing about her turkey club - great bacon and crusty dulish bread - for hours.  This was our best meal of a week on the Olympic Peninsula.  Waitress was a doll - hilarious and charming.  It's a dirty tavern (minus the dirtyness), so expect logger ambiance and grit, but great pub food too.  Don't order a salad you dummy.  Although the salads that came with the sammys were surprisingly great - mesculun greens, cukes, shredded carrot etc.  Whatta surprise.  If you drove past, you just screwed up.  Skip the valet parking.

Geoduck has more of a bar atmosphere, but the restaurant section is separated from the bar section by a waist-high fence, and the restaurant has a completely separate entrance.  There is a deck where you can watch the seals and birds while you eat -- there is also a cat?

I ordered the clam strips (they were out of clam chowder, oysters, and I think steak).  The pieces were large, about 3-4 inches long and half an inch wide, unlike many restaurants who give you small skimpy pieces where there's just as much batter as clam.  Some of the pieces had a soft texture, and others had a chewy texture -- clams AND oysters? We asked our waitress, but she denied it because they were out of oysters.  It doesn't really matter to me, though.  I actually liked the combination.  The hamburgers were HUGE! My mom actually ended up taking half of her burger home with her.  The bacon burgers came with LOTS of bacon.  Lots of fries came with

Our waitress was really nice and had a good sense of humor.  When she saw me checking out the jukebox, she offered to give me some money from the till to play some music.  I declined, but she brought $5 anyway and stuck it in the machine.  I selected Paul McCartney's Wings album -- very nice of her.

I have been here once so far and although I didn't have the signature burger dip, I still had a wonderful experience.  The outdoor tables on the deck are a must if the weather permits as the view of the Dosy and the Canal are marvelous.  The food was superb, the menu was solid and the service fast and true.  I can't wait to come again and confirm my first experience and be able to give an update.

The Geoduck Restaurant and Lounge is a place you must stop when you are anywhere near Brinnon, WA.  Hosts Melissa and Dave Westervelt are so welcoming and gracious.  I had the Ty One On oyster sandwich, and it's to die for.  It's like an ultimate BLT on fresh-baked bread (baked at the Geoduck) with fresh grilled oysters.  Wowee!!  I think it's the best sandwich I've ever had!!  The atmosphere is really fun, and the view from the restaurant and deck are wonderful (the Hood Canal and surroundings).  Don't miss stopping by the Geoduck.  You won't be sorry!!

So disappointed.  We've eaten here before and it was pretty good but not so this time.  Wound up with warm beer (ACK!), over cooked hamburger, under cooked bacon on that burger, bar-b-q sauce on the underside of my salad plate (WHAT??), and waitress who was like a zombie, barely even saying "hello" to us and offering NOTHING by way of hospitality at all.  Just NOT good.  Don't know that we'll be back.  Sigh...

Wow, we stopped her for lunch in Nov 2012 on our way to a girls retreat.  I had the best pan fried oysters I have ever had, absolutely delicious, and such a large serving I was hard pressed to finish!  (but I did).  I am now trying to find an excuse to make that long drive back so I can take my son, I know he will love it too!  Great food, fun ambiance, nice wait staff, incredible view, you can't go wrong!

The establishment is not very appealing from the outside. The aged dark wood planks and beer signs crammed into the windows makes it look like a biker's bar straight out of Hollywood. I took the wrong door in and had to wade past some pool tables to the sitting area. But what you can't see from the road are the picture windows on the other side showing off Puget Sound in all her glory. And what you don't expect is the most delicious food you've had all month. The atmosphere you anticipate is gone when the waitress brings over the menu. This is very much a town gathering place. Everything we ordered was put-it-in-your-mouth-now delicious exploding with flavor. We're tempted to drive out of our way now on Highway 101, just so that we can stop in there again.

One of the best hole in the wall restaurants we stumbled apon. Im a hamburger and fries gal, so I have tried many different establishments burgers and this place was one of the best. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and the bacon was thick and cooked just right. The hamburger patty itself was flavorful and juicy but didnt fall apart. Not to mention the hamburgers are huuuge. You leave feeling full and satisfied without the feeling that u just clogged your arteries. And the prices are great too. Will go back next time we go camping.

Very disappointed that there wasn't any geoduck on the menu.  False advertising!  Jess had the clam chowder anyway and it was good but probably came from a can.

I had a patty melt and Jess had the reuben and both were pretty good. Joe had the Big burger dip which was enormous.  They warned us but Joe wanted to try it anyway.  He got through half of it and we were impressed.

This place is really a bar and the restaurant section is right next to the regulars drinking cheap beer.  Lots of old loggers just hanging out.  My boys were the only kids and the 3 of us were the only out of towners.  Waitress was friendly and made us feel welcome.

Good food, good service.  Just needs some geoduck fritters to make it a 5 star.

First things first the clientele here are top notch, the owner is great, the bar and the view unbeatable. The food? Yikes. Ask any server/bartender there what they like to eat off the menu, I'll be surprised if any of them do. I have eaten here about 10 times. Burgers, fish, strips... only the salad was decent.

This place could be making lots of money if they stepped up their food a notch and maybe served ummm, what are those clams called, oh yeah, GEODUCKS. I had never tried them and thought it might be a good place, but no such luck. Closest place to try geoduck is at the sushi joint in port townsend and that is only if they have them on special.

They could do better with their bartender hires too, considering the amount of people that regularly drink there. I once waited 20 minutes for a whiskey coke as the bartender cut limes/lemons and served people that came after me. Other people in the bar were upset about the situation as well, but I kept my cool and even tipped her a little to let her i know I didn't forget.

Probably the best clam strips I have ever had and great fries too. Service was fast and friendly. The tavern overlooks marshlands(?) which happened to have a couple Elk strolling through. We were offered binoculars to view them - kind of a nice touch. You can tell the bar has their regulars, we felt very welcome and will return the next time we're in Hoods Canal.

This place has gone down hill.   Terrible service. No more clams don't waste your money or time.  Frank even said the beer was flat.   We used to stop evey year on our ride around the canal.   A real shame!!!  New owners don't care

Great food. Great service. Great employees. Great view.

They make the best burgers and their beer is ice cold.

It doesn't get any better than this.

This place is paradise in a tavern. We were spending a weekend on a boathouse and came across this little gem on Easter day. We showed up to find regulars sitting at the bar dying eggs. We noticed that our size of drink glasses were a little bit smaller than the size that the regulars got. WE WERE INTRIGUED AND MOST CERTAINLY WANTED TO GET INTO THEIR GANG. We kept drinking.

A little while into it we noticed that we weren't the only outsiders hanging out with this awesome secret society. There was another sitting directly across from us alone just gazing at the eggs getting dyed and longing to be a part of it. Eventually he joined and they welcomed him with open arms.

OF COURSE more drinks happen and all of a sudden we too end up sitting on the other side of the bar with these amazing people dying eggs. We began chatting with a few guys who were super friendly, but my ultimate favorite was a regular named Mark. Once he found out it was my birthday weekend he tried to give me a dyed Ostrich egg. I kept saying that I couldn't take it because it must be being saved for something important because obviously it's an awesome huge dyed Ostrich egg and you can't just give something like that away. Mark refused to believe this and insisted on getting someone on the phone to ask for permission and 'accept responsibility'. I wasn't able to receive the egg obviously but I did receive a free beer ticket for my next must needed visit to Geoduck Tavern [and mostly Mark]. IT'S LAMINATED.

Besides the staff and regulars being super friendly, nice, and entertaining - they also have a bar cat who hangs out on the incredible back deck that over looks the water! A. BAR. CAT.

I am so proud to say that by the end of the night we were drinking out of the bigger glasses.

What a fabulous surprise along the road!  Great bar food, service and rustic atmosphere.  Made this Yooper feel right at home!  The view can't be beat for the price. AND the bathroom smelled better than I did!

The Geoduck Tavern is just a stone's throw away from Dosewalips State Park. We recently stopped in after arriving to Dosewalips for a weekend of camping for dinner since it was rated as a "Best Bar" in Esquire. We really had no idea what to expect, but it's totally a dive bar where the locals hang out and grab a bit to eat. 3 of us got the burgers which were super-sized and filled with toppings. They also had quite the selection of beers on tap, which we enjoyed.

We also really enjoyed the view of the canal by sitting at a window table. I'm sure the patio is a great place to hang out in the warmer months. If you're not from around here, this place is worth a visit for some fried food and a brew.

Every time we ride the bike along Hood Canal we stop at the Geoduck.  Sounds funny but they have a fried oyster sandwich that is really good.  Great views of the canal from the deck or sitting near the windows.   Nothing fancy.  Hole in the wall institution.  If you in the neighborhood and want a bite to each don't let the motorcycles intimidate you.  It's an older well behaved crowd. Stop in for a bite.  I hear the drinks are great but don't believe in drinking and riding a motorcycle.  But hey, don't let that stop you.

The Geoduck Tavern again hosted a 2nd annual "drunkin Pig" Salmon fishing derby; myself and several fisherman bought into the salmon derby and fished Saturday and Sunday 03-06-10 and 03-07-10.
After the closing of the official time, we raced into Brinnon to hear where we placed in the derby. more than an hour drive for us!

After listening to name after name drawn and seeing several staff members coming up and claiming prize's we began to watch the woman drawing names; she would look into the can, read the names, put most back and draw again!!!! there were several true fisherman there waiting to see what should have won as there were not many fish placed onto the "fish ladder"t.
The "derby" by our observations were rigged! name after name of locals were drawn, even people who were not present, (as official rules deemed manditory)  were given out to friends" time after time, some employees winning 2-3 prizes!
We will never enter the derby again, nor recommend visiting this dive again. We had intended to eat here but after such a poorly run outfit we decided to leave and not support the local "economy"...POOR FORM Geoduck, POOR FORM!!!!

Hey, it's been a few years... the Mate and I were cruising in a rental car around Puget Sound. We had been on the road all day, we were hungry, it was dark, & we were tired. What did appear out of the misty rain and drizzle -- but the Geoduck!  (I even knew how to pronounce it and had caught one or two myself)

Anyway.... we have been talking about ever since -- I even have the T-shirt! I had the Fish 'n Chips, halibut I recall.... wonderful dish.  The Mate ordered a cheeseburger.... she loved it too.. huge and perfectly med-rare.

It's a locals place and the crowd was mostly older folks (so am I) and a few families with kids. Good beer... reasonable prices.  I wish we had a place like it back in MD.... it's a bit like Cantler's was 10 or 15 years ago.

If we are ever out thata way again, we will make it a point to return. If only to see the view out back on the deck... our visibility was zilch! We did not see any bikers... the weather... but I would have fit right in.

    Order: Big Burger Dip
    Cost: $14.50
Burger Layout: Bun, Swiss Cheese, Sautéed Onions, Burger, Swiss Cheese, Burger, Bun - Side of dipping sauce.
    Fries: Homestyle tasty

Stopped in at 8:00 on a Saturday night. Locals crowd the bar and no one sits at the tables. We take a seat and wait a few minutes for menus, wait a few more minutes for drinks and to have our order taken, and then wait quite a while for the food. A sign proclaims that it isn't fast food, so be patient.

Ordering the burger gets you the big beefy burger, fries, and either soup or salad. The salad turned out to be chopped iceberg lettuce drenched in ranch dressing. The soup that others got was a wild rice chicken soup that was so thick no one could come to call it soup, but none the less it was really good.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not opposed to big burgers by any means. Beefy is not normally a problem I encounter.

That said, this burger is a beast. Two monster patties, both moderately overcooked, both probably a half pound or more, and both with slices of swiss on them. Compared to the amount of overpowering beef, you can hardly taste the onions. Actually... you can hardly taste anything but the beef. That is unless you dip it in the provided Au Jus. Should you do that the big beefy problem dissipates, and another problem arises: this is the saltiest bite imaginable. Thus we arrive at the Big Burger Dip Catch 22. Beefy or Salty?

I got the whole thing down and was stuffed. No room for more than 5 fries and a long drive home. Sorry Esquire Magazine, this didn't do it for me.

    2/5

Note: I've been in here 3 other times and each time have adored the food. The Ty One On oyster sandwich is to die for and the drinks are great.

The food here makes up for the lack of restaurants along Hwy 101 up the West side of Hood Canal. While staying in Bremerton, I took a trip around the canal looking for a scenic trip and some good food. I definitely had a scenic trip (including several side trips into the Olympic National Forest/Park); the good food was almost a bust.

Had I not turned around and given this place try, I would have missed the best oyster sandwich I've ever had. The fries were also great; they tasted like they just chopped the tader before they hit the fryer. The salad wasn't as outstanding as the sandwich, but was good with homemade blue cheese dressing. They also have a good selection of beer on tap.

The only downside to this place is the strong smell of cigarette smoke that hit me when I stepped in to the place. But hey, it is a bar.

Oh, by the way, they had just closed the kitchen when I arrived but reopened it for me. Definitely worth the trip!

So when I read about the Geoduck Tavern in Esquire, my first response was... really?!?!??!  The place right across the street from Dosewallips where I've been going my whole life??!??!

It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall, biker bar.  We decided to stop for lunch today on the way home.  The deck out back is just gorgeous, you sit and look at their pretty flowers and out over Hood Canal.

The Geoduck is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the view and have a great, lengthy conversation with your friends.  And it's a good thing that you want to spend time there, because if you want to order food you will be there for a very, very, long time.  As they say, they specialize in fresh food, not fast food.  Everything is made only when you order it.  I think our food took a good 40 to 45 minutes to get to us.

I had halibut and chips.  I'm a sucker for fish and chips, especially when it's halibut (they also have cod).  It's was very good, but a little greasy.  The fish had a nice crust on it and the fries were meaty but not gigantic.  My man had the double dipper deluxe which was basically french dip, but 2 burger patties instead of roast beef, dripping with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms.  The Au Jus was delightful.  The burgers were a bit dry and the least flavorful part.  My sis had the club sandwich, I think it was as big as her head.  She declared it wonderful.

The one thing none of us ordered was the house deluxe burger, which is what put it on the Esquire list.  I'll have it next time.

My bloody mary was really really good.  Lots of salt, vodka and olives.

All in all 3 of us had lunch and a round of drinks for about $40 before tip.  And we all look forward to going back.

The Geoduck doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't.  Its a small country tavern.  Decorated in local kitsch its a super cozy welcoming bar.

They serve down-home food in a down-home way and STRONG drinks.  They have a wide variety of sandwiches, seafood, and burgers and some really good salads.

The bar has plenty of pool tables and tv's to catch up on local sports and news.  This is clearly the hangout for the locals and a good place to get good tips on events and things to do!
