This place was close to unacceptable. Topping were fresh, cheese was ample. There was not much sauce on it and the crust had a weird texture to it; almost like it was microwaved after it was cooked, it was kinda strange and the reason I probably won't be back.
Another odd thing; the guy taking our order (we walked in) would not allow us to add extra topping to the $9 one topping special. I don't know the logic of that, but the last time I checked extra toppings is a massive profit source. $1.50 for what amounts to two whole mushrooms seems like a given to me.
Oh my goodness! Who would have pegged Harrison as a gourmet stop!!! Never in a million years did we expect to taste pizza like this! Actually, we haven't had pizza of this quality in more years than I can remember. (And with as many pizza places close to home in the Royal Oak area, that's saying a lot.)
Anyway, visiting my parents over the holidays, and decided to spring for pizza for New Years Eve. Had noticed Georgio's sign advertising a Reuben pizza. Decided to give it a try. Ended up with a round veggie, deep dish pepperoni, black olive, FRESH mushroom pizza, and of course a round Reuben. OMG!!! They were all outstanding (deep dish texture and taste was a hit!), but the Reuben ... I'd make a trip back to Harrison simply for that. A bit of thousand island dressing, gooey cheese, crunchy sauerkraut, and some of the best corned beef I've had. My mouth is watering as I write.
Also have to mention their soups. Homemade, and fantastic. Tried the chicken noodle as well as a pot roast/roasted vegetable. Both disappeared quickly!
According to a friend, their salads are beautiful - fresh and plentiful. Other menu offerings like spaghetti, multi-cheese bread sticks, subs,(homemade meatball sub sounds interesting!)etc are items we'll sample on future visits. That is, if I 'm able to order anything other than that Reuben pizza!
There are a couple tables available, but I think the main business is carryout. Prices are ridiculously reasonable, and the staff is helpful and friendly (even carried my purchases out to the van!).
If you're in the Harrison area, this is a place you really should try! Can't imagine anyone being disappointed.
