Gianfranco's Cucina

Gianfranco's is a wonderful little addition to the Waterloo area.  Solid Italian food served in huge portions, which should appeal to the people of Waterloo.  The menu is ridiculously large, bordering on comical.  I don't know how or why they prepare so many types of pasta daily, but somehow everything we ordered did not disappoint.    I would think they could improve their margins by reducing the menus size and rotating some of the less ordered items in a specials menu.  

The food is solid.  Nothing will blow you out of the water.  We got a bit adventurous and tried the mussels.  I had low expectations for any place serving mussels in Monrie county.  Amazingly they were not rubbery like I was expecting, but actually quite nice.  

If you are looking for a nice lunch for 2, the antipasto app would be my recommendation.   It is full of italian meats and a wonderful  feta salad.  

Hopefully the area will support this business.  It is a great addition to Waterloo.
