My wife and I stopped in while it was dead (mid-afternoon on a Saturday). The food was a damned good take on bar fare, but the real stand-out was our bartender, Benji. He's the kind of good-hearted, very easy to get along with kind of person I'd hire in a heartbeat. No idea how it is later in the night, but as a couple of barflies, we loved it.
Review Source:This is a bar for the younger crowds, but I usually tend to think the younger crowds are more fun! There really aren't a lot of exciting bars around here... and this one isn't that special apart from the fact that it doesn't smell like nasty cigarettes in here!
Bars and clubs in Baltimore (where I'm from) are way more exciting. Maybe it's just a Clarksville thing but there are no places to go dance unless you wanna ho-down... Or hump a stripper pole (I'm looking at you, "Lodge"!)
Not really classy, not really trashy... I guess it's just a regular bar that lots of college age people go to. It's very busy and the drinks aren't that cheap. I probably won't go here again. It's just an OK place.
This is a pretty nice bar. It's kind of small compared to others in town, but it does the trick. I think it's more for the younger crowd, since it's right next to APSU.
Drinks are a little overpriced. They have this thing called a "Dumpster Bomb" which to my knowledge is several different liquors mixed in to a pitcher with ice and some Redbull. Kind of expensive for my taste, however, it does what you expect it to.
My favorite thing about this bar is that there are two Beer Pong tables inside.
If you want to play some pong and it's cold outside (as most bars have their tables located outdoors) this is the place to go. Unfortunately, you can't smoke indoors, so in the winter months it's a bit chilly. I guess that helps you smoke less.
All in all, a really friendly atmosphere. I've had no trouble with bartenders whatsoever.
I've stopped by the Gilroy several times intermittently here and there. Only two in particular stand out and they pretty much paint the picture of how poor this place truly is.
On the first occasion, I showed up and tried to get the bartenders' attention for near 30 minutes to order a drink. When I finally got it, they made me the wrong thing. Oh well, it was crowded and didn't taste bad. Once my drink had been gone for about 15 minutes, I tried to get the bartenders' attention to get another one. This time I waited 45 minutes with my wallet out on the bar and trying to wave down every employee I see. By the time they finally acknowledged me, I just decided to close out. 20 minutes later I was finally given my card back and the receipt to sign. Needless to say, no tip.
Most recently (tonight actually) I went into the Gilroy and seriously, not 5 minutes after getting there, a fight breaks out. After the fight is over then security comes running up. That is no way to run an establishment and certainly not the type of people I want to associate with. I promise you, I will never be back.
Went there on a Thursday night and it was dead. I was waiting on a friend of mine but I arrived early. I walked in and there was one person in the bar, not one customer, one person. I don't know if he was waiting on service or whatever but he paid me no attention. I hit up their ATM, looked around a little bit and then just left.
This doesn't mean that I'll be coming back but this experience was definitely not one to write well about.
