Was driving through Michigan with my bro and his three fantastic wee ones in tow. Â The kids were hungry and we'd been driving for quite awhile, a food pit stop sounded like a great idea. Â He was driving and I was scanning reviews for a decent, family style place to stop. Â Due to traffic we took a different route which brought us through the area. Â A quick call to the number I found on Yelp and discovered they were still open and could accommodate us for dinner.
It was a weeknight and the place was empty except for a few take out orders. Â The decor was dated and the business looked to be family run. Â Per the menu it's been a family business since its start in 1979. Â The business switched hands to the now current owning family in 2000. Â Decent place with tables and seating accommodating any size group whether it be a couple or a group of six. Â The restaurant is clean, well lighted and suited for a family gathering. Â Pizza takes time to prepare and since I would assume families come here often, ownership had put in a small game room with arcade games and the novelty crane machine where one tries to win a stuffed animal. Â (Bring quarters because they don't keep that stocked)
We ordered a few different items since we had one that dines gluten free. Â A couple pizzas, a plate of fries and a special salad for our special one, of onions, tomato slices and cucumbers without the seeds. Â We could tell the waitress found the salad order odd, but it gets tiresome to explain food allergies. Â Service took its time and I don't think they either know or have the mindset to be more available. Â I mean, it's a restaurant which has served the area for many years but I don't think it's ever that busy like that of any pizzeria found in a greater, populated area. Â So, don't go expecting too much. Â I find that in slower places, lowering my expectations is best. Â Pizza was good but it took its time, I would probably go back again if I ever found myself in this area with the same people. Â Restaurant staff was inviting and there was some good back and forth conversation. Â The kids enjoyed and we had a good time.
The stars are for the charm of the people behind the pizza. Â The good service, though I will admit it was slow and when we needed things we had to get up and ask for someone to stop by our table. Â Free and ample parking.
The pizza was decent and reasonably priced, but I'm probably not going to rush back to eat here anytime soon. The service was horrible. We had to get up from our table in order to find our server because silverware, refills, drinks, or questions of 'do you need anything else' 'how's everything' 'would you like a box' or 'ready for the check' were never offered.
Review Source:My girlfriend and I decided to check this place out since we had a coupon. We ordered a pizza which wasn't too bad. It was good and it hit the spot, but nothing really to talk about. The service was terrible. We got our water and food and we didn't see our waitress until the very end of our meal. She didn't even bring out a bill. I don't know if that's the way they run things, but if so they could of said something.
The decor seems dated, like a place from the 70s. I have so many more restaurants to try out, so this place may be near the end of my list to go back to.
