Good spot to grab some drinks after a day on the slopes or if you want to take a break from the mountain and have a down day. They serve food, but will allow you to order pizza from the shop across the way and bring in, as long as you purchase drinks. They have a number of games including pool, foosball, board games and cards you can play- which I am always a fan of. The service is decent esp for a dive bar. Mostly locals here aside from the skiers and snowboarders who come in off the slopes. The drinks are strong and cheap, which is a nice alternative to the village, where everything seems to be pretty pricey. They also have good happy hour specials.
Review Source:I love dive bars. Â Especially on a week night when you are the only three girls in the bar. Â Can you say fun conversations and free drinks? We were visiting Keystone for a girls ski/snowboard trip and made the walk down the street from our condo to indulge in some of their soup and whisky that was advertised. Â Consequently beer and chili cheese fries were also involved. Â It was a blast. Â The only thing not so fun? The nose dive I took on the icy street on the walk back to the condo. Â But hey no taxi needed so it's all good.
Review Source:3 stars for drinks and atmosphere. Stars N/A for food.
They have a nice understanding with the Pizza 101 (across the ways) in that you can bring your Pizza over to The Goat, as long as you buy drinks, which was no problem.
This place is a good option for those staying in/around Keystone resorts. It CAN be a slight walk, especially at the end of a night.
Personally, I'm a fan of bars with games, so thumbs up for the pool table, foosball, connect four, trivia cards, cards, etc.
Title this one: DIRTY SNOW-TARD DUMP, AND BRING YOUR STINKY DOG TOO~!
OK, lets' drill down: WHY would you name a bar (restaurant?) after a smelly, yellow-eyed farm animal? And why would you call out "SOUP-WHISKEY". I don't generally go to restaurants for their soup, and all bars are gonna HAVE whiskey, right? I guess tat'd/pierced "self-mutilation generation" jokers who run this dump somehow thought GOAT-SOUP-WHISKEY is CUTE somehow? Anyway, a bar being "dog friendly" is not an attraction to most people. I cannot understand how the health dept. can allow dogs in a FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. Loose definition of "food". I had some tolerable b-fasts here a few years back, but the "service", generally, is pretty scarce. Hippy-dippy snowboarders do NOT make good Wait Trons, period. And yes, the downstairs restrooms? An off-the-wall concept, and they are hideous! If you like P*SS all over, and sh*tted-up toy-tees, then this Gen X/Y/Z hole is for you. Just a dump. Speaking of DUMPS, I gotta drop a DEUCE...a REAL BUNKER-BUSTER...but I'll keep my brown-eye slammed shut until I get home!
I hate Keystone the mountain so The Goat is the only reason I would venture there.
A super super dive, but it has it's merits. Stiff drinks, great live music and plenty of parking.
Cons: Shitty location as the only other bar around is Snake River Saloon. Service is also pretty sketch so I stick to boozing.
Drinks are cheap...you get a free wristband to return back into the bar if you leave (if you show up early enough). Â They had a live band-I think it was bluegrass? Mountain people like to swing/square dance, apparently. Â the separate rooms are cool. Â it is low key and the patrons are friendly enough. We had gone to 3 other places in btw and none of them had the service/lively demeanor this bar had, so we returned to finish off the night. Â Really convenient since it is right across from the ski lift and hotel because it is FREEZING at 12am here! Â Stumbled home, puked and rallied, went to bed.
P.S. read they allow dogs
Yes, it's slow, dirty, and mediocre, but hear me out:
This is a place where you can bring your dog and have a $1 beer in a town small enough for you to know the folks walking in the door. Meet your friends after the mountain closes and laugh at the gaper families who turn away in horror. Have the pizza place next door deliver a pie to your table and share with everyone: the employees won't care and if you know the girl taking your order I guarantee you won't pay full price. Make friends with the bartender and with the guy next to you and you'll be that much more a part of the cold, gristly, and awesome mountain lifestyle you came here to enjoy.
Wow, just WOW.
Talk about super slow service but what do you expect when the place is run by snowtards. Â Came in on a Saturday night after riding Breck all day. We were staying at the Keystone Inn next door, and decided to come here for dinner and a few drinks.
First off I have heard of this place for a long time. It's been on my radar since I moved here 3 years ago and have been coming to Keystone for awhile now. So, I came in thinking a bit highly of this place because quite a few of my friends had recommended it.
We were seated, and the place was dead. Â It took a good 15 min for someone just to walk over to us. Â He didn't bother taking our drink orders, so we sat there, a bit confused if we should go to the bar or wait for him to come back. We decided to just go up to the bar and order beers and then the bartender informed us that the servers didn't bring drinks (WTF???) and we'd have to go to the bar. Â
After more waiting, we ordered a few apps- gravy fries and wings. Â The server forgot to come back to get our food order so we proceeded to wait another 10 minutes after we had finished those apps when he finally came back. Â Now let me say-the food was pretty good, especially the gravy fries. Â Bf and I shared a bacon cheeseburger and side of chili. Â Oh, and about the "SOUP". Â It only says Soup and Whiskey in their freaking name but do they have soup? NO! The waiter was confused and had to go ask the kitchen if there was any, and he said all they had was chili and soup of the day which also happened to be..CHILI. Burger was just fine, but the chili was certainly passable, way too tomatoey.
I have since heard this place was taken under new management and it basically went downhill after that. Were I ever to go here again? Hell no.
Definitely a dive bar. I worked at Keystone for 3 years and this, The Snake, and Summit Pizza are the watering holes for employees. Cover when there's a band, but for cheap whiskey and $1 PBRs you can't complain. If you get to know the bartenders they'll hook you up with other pours for a buck as well. I love getting Breck Christmas Ale for a dollar. As a local I love to come during peak season and laugh at the gapers.
Review Source:Keystone bar you love to hate. Â Such a mix of all types. Â Especially during peak ski season, you will find yourself drinking with someone that went to the same college as you did. Â I've never been here during the slow summer season, but I'm sure it is still fun.
The food is also decent. Â Pretty much a dive bar on the highway going through Keystone.
Usually on the weekends there is a live band playing in the back room. Â You will be forced to pay the cover charge, but that will be offset by the cheap drinks they have.
I mostly enjoy The Goat, because it is a stumble, hop skip and a jump to the condo I stay at.
Finally made it here after driving by on every trip to and from Keystone, and though I will drink $1 PBRs (out of a glass, even!) till the cows come home, I'm not 100% a Goat girl. Live music is great but the crowd is not totally my scene. I may be a few years too old. I was definitely overdressed...not as in dressed up, but as in my body was fully covered by clothing. Huge rave for having board games, my friends played Connect 4 for 4+ hours. The other reviews are correct, the bathrooms are disgusting and there is only one stall in the first place, at least for the ladies. But I enjoyed watching the Courtney Love lookalike trainwreck her way through her Saturday night here. So the people watching is quite entertaining.
Review Source:Didn't try the soup! A group of friends and I enjoyed the Goat on a Saturday night with live music. $5 cover and $1 PBRs? Sign us up. Bartenders were friendly and we liked the local vibe. If I lived near Keystone, I would be here frequently.
My only complaint: I understand that it's a bit of a dive bar, but the bathrooms downstairs are straight out of a horror movie.
Drank at this place two consecutive nights while on a ski trip in Keystone, #1 mainly because it is located right next door to the Inn at Keystone and #2 because options are limited in that town. There was a $5 cover each night we went for some crappy band that only played for a bit. (In Austin, most crappy bands are free). I guess charging $5 to get into a dive bar makes me angry, which is why I gave this place 3 stars. However, they do have $1 pints of Pabst Blue Ribbon. They also have a foose ball table, a pool table, and buck hunt. I think I saw some people playing connect 4 on the tables. Mainly young 20 somethings getting hammered at this bar.
Would I go back? I guess so if I was ever in Keystone (which will be never). I guess I'll pay the $5 cover and angrily drink my PBR's... Grrr
GOAT SOUP WHISKEY what a name!?!? Â I used to come play here all the time when I lived in CO. Â It's the place (probably the only place) to hangout and pound some shots with friends to stay warm. Â Total dive bar with 2 sections with 2 separate bars. Â One area usually has some live music while the other side a juke box and is uaully packed with the younger generation. Â Goat gear is sold here and drinks are inexpensive which is lovely. Â
It's just funny that you have to pay cover to get into the Goat. Â Maybe that is only on Saturdays? Â I hope.
A great little dumpy spot to drink, maybe hear a band, and play some foosball or buckhunter when staying in Keystone. Â Not too many options that feel 'Colorado' for tourists close by (unless you're talking about phony log cabin mansion 'great room' kind of Colorado). Â This place saves the day- get out of the ski village and come drink here...you'll be glad you did!
Review Source:Dive bar for 20 somethings to have a few beers after a day of snowboarding. Want a tshirt and don't have the cash? Â Maybe you just feel like bargaining.... Â my friend traded an old Wisconsin license plate for a tshirt. Â Pabst beers are cheap and the mixed drinks are strong. Â If I remember correctly there were a few pool tables and a juxe box. Â
It's like partying in your friends parent's garage.
