Golden Garden

The buffet is ok.  Usually call in my order. The sweet and sour chicken is good.  I like the chicken fried rice. The operators don't speak English.

It's better than I'd have expected in this tiny town.  No where near great, though.  Food is fresh at lunch but not by dinner time.  Still, I was pleased to find it.

I was in Stilwell for four days and ate here five times.  First of all, this is the only Chinese restaurant in Stilwell, which has a population of 3,500 people with the highest density of Cherokee Indians in the United States.  Chinese make up less than one percent of the population in Stilwell, and they must all work at this restaurant.

The restaurant has a daily buffet, which has amazing fresh choices.  The food is not sitting in the steam trays for hours, but is freshly made.  I spoke to the owner, who was from Mainland China, and he told me that he could make custom orders too.  I had their beef chow fun with bok choy.  I absolutely loved their General Tso's chicken.  The owner actually cooked a cheese burger for me one evening.

Being from San Francisco, I found the food actually pretty tasty and a relative bargain.  I especially liked the fact that this town was hipster free.  

Eat here and you won't be disappointed.
