Every time I've stopped here with my girlfriend, we've had an excellent meal and an excellent time. The interior of the Grant House has been beautifully restored, and really brings you back to the era that the building was constructed in. Their menu has an excellent selection, from burgers to gyros and everything in between. They also offer a brunch depending on the hour, and unfortunately I've never caught it. Â They also advertise as a bed and breakfast, and the rooms upstairs are again beautifully restored to their classic style. Â Overall, an excellent classy stop in Rush City, and highly recommended.
Review Source:I was a bit disappointed in the food, except for the desserts which are made from scratch. They were great. I had a coconut cream pie that was just like Mom's.
We went on steak night and I had a New York Strip. I thought the meat was a bit flavorless and the steak seemed to be pan seared rather than cooked on a grill. It was cooked a bit unevenly. My sides were pretty rough, too. The broccoli was overcooked and sort of greyish. My baked potato was fine.
Other guests were very pleased with their pizza, which was cut in squares St. Louis style!
The service here is great, and very friendly. The menu is massive. I think they could perhaps improve their quality if they focused more on their strengths and cut down the size of their menu a bit.
Finding a local farmer (this is out in the middle of the country!) for their meat could really make this place a destination.
Finally, it is in a gorgeous historic building that is an inn. This could be a really romantic spot if someone fixes the lighting and spiffs up the decor a bit.
Basically, lots of potential here.
