It sucks that this place gets an average two star rating because one of the two reviews rated it with one star just based on the fact it's brick and mortar location closed.

Let me tell you this, Griffin's bbq served up the best darn pulled pork sandwich I have had to date in this area. I have been to all the bbq heavy hitters and I am surprised that my favorite comes from a shaking truck ( the running generator keeps the truck a rockin')in the parking lot of Lighthouse Liqueurs.

When I unwrapped the sandwich, I'll tell you what it was not very photogenic. There was a pile of pink tinged pulled pork in between the buns. I expressed my concerns to Ruth C who told me to just put it in my mouth, so I did. Although this sandwich was not dripping in sauce like others, it was beyond flavorful. Imagine perfectly smoked tender meat with sweet (Kansas city style)light sauce and the sandwich was overstuffed with it! Ruth had a beef brisket sandwich and the bite I had was pretty good. The side of collard greens was pretty delicious and fresh too. The owner (i think) came out several times to ask how we liked the food, so I would say the service is super friendly too.

I do not know when I will have a chance to visit this corner of Southern Maryland again but I will stalk this truck the next time I am close to here.

    Cash only.

Sorry Gang, but Griffins is closed.  They've moved back into their trailer down by the WaWa near the Rt 5 / 235 split.

I'm surprised nobody has reviewed this place yet, but I won't complain about being the first.

The sign out front says "Competition winning BBQ", and they have trophies inside to prove it.

Things are pretty sparse inside aside from those trophies and a few TVs, but the staff makes up for it. Griffin's is a family run joint, and everyone I talked to was polite, friendly, and welcoming. I got suggestions on what to try, samples of the BBQ sauces when I asked some questions, and each time a server or one of the kitchen staff came by my table, they were checking on if I needed anything and how I liked the food.

I went for a brisket sandwhich, and the smoked beef was shaved almost paper thin before being put on the bun. It melted in my mouth and went very well with their spicy sauce, and my sides of collard greens and baked beans made a very respectable lunch.

The cornbread wasn't bad, but I thought it was a bit dry.

My only complaint is that some of the prices seemed high, but on the other hand they were offering several lunch combo specials to help stretch your dollar a bit, so I'd suggest aiming for lunch first, then coming back for dinner if you're comfortable spending a bit more.
