    Most everything has the green chili on it and it's very watery and has little flavor. The burger and fries were good. The service was good however the man at the front seemed grumpy. Probably other places to go.

    This is an excellent local diner. I've sampled their breakfast and lunch items, and been happy all around. The cook even accommodated our vegan companion with a nicely presented fruit plate by special request. This is close to my home, and I'm sorry I haven't discovered it sooner.
    I will be back, and often.

    This review is just for breakfasts, will update if we return for lunch/dinner in the future.

    The husband and I have something for country diner food on Sunday mornings. Selection in Castle Rock was slim, and frankly on a sunday morning we just aren't in the mood to drive way north or pay out the wazoo.

    After B&B had to shut down (which I hear it will be returning under new ownership soon, previous owners are opening a spot just a few doors up), we had to hunt up another greasy spoon. We were never super impressed with B&B grub, but we liked the locals and it was close, so it became our usual. O'briens in Sedalia was our place years ago, but the grunge factor finally became too much for us.  

    We decided to try Grill on the HIll and I am VERY glad we did. Small, tucked away, could probably use a bit of an interior update.... BUT then it would lose some of its charm!

    Staff is all SUPER friendly, efficient, attentive, and coffee cups were never empty. Tables and booths were well cleaned. Prices are good.

    Coffee is good, not starbucks strong but not weak either. Green chili is different, not overly green or spicy (lots of cumin and chili powder I think), but my husband liked it. Eggs are done well to order, sausage and bacon were good (sometimes diner versions of these are super salty but these are not), hashbrowns were crispy how I like 'em.

    The last trip my husband had the country breakfast burrito (country gravy, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage), and he raved about it over and over. This is a southern man who has had more then his share of gravy and he ranked that as one of the best he has ever had.  

    I had a skillet dish once and that was probably the only 'meh' item I have had thus far, but I would try another version again before I gave a verdict there.

    If I had one request on the menu, corned beef and hash.

    I will update down the road as I suspect we will be trying more items in the future.

    Actually a tasty place.  The burger I had was really good.  Much better than I expected.  The fries were great as well.  Definitely a place I would recommend for lunch if you are in the area...

    I have been coming here for years.  It is definitely a place that one must drive to but the small town atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food is worth it.

    As one would expect, the seating area is small but the menu items were delicious.  The breads are baked in house making the burgers additionally yummy.  

    The "outside seating" is enclosed with space heaters.  Since the Grill is on a Hill, protection from the wind is a great idea.

    I had the pork carnitas and they were delicious!  My guest had the cheeseburger and again - really good stuff.

    The coffee was good and kept filled which always scores points with me.

    All round, a real treat - a nice drive into the country and good food.

    From the outside and the inside upkeep, you'd think you were in for some bad eats, but like they say, you can't judge a restaurant by it's decor.  I think that's a saying anyway.

    I was by myself for breakfast, and the place was empty except for the large table of very senior Franktownians who did what all small town folk do and stare at anyone they don't know like the three-boobed woman from Total Recall.  But, with a loud Hello and a smile they all left me alone.  The service was slow and despite being a young girl the waitress was odd and meek, which was a little weird.  

    But the food was absolutely legit.  I had the Ultimate Meatlovers Chipolte Breakfast Burrito and it was pork-tastic.  Hot, tasty, fresh and not too greasy, which was an amazing feat considering the amount of swine inside.  I also had their giant cinnamon roll, which was made fresh that morning but then microwaved for my meal (Ugh, I hate that) and was also above average.  

    I was a little surprised at the prices.  Not exactly on par with small town fare.  The burrito was $9 and the cinnamon roll was $4.50, which is what you pay at someplace like Snooze.  But it's quiet, homey and they had the morning SportsCenter on, so overall it was a pleasant trip.

    Tip:  This place is kind of hidden from view, even at the corner of Parker Rd & Hwy 86.  Go east on Hwy 86 up the hill about a tenth of a mile and you'll see the strip mall.  You pull into the frontage road that's another tenth of a mile east on 86.

    Headline: Out of the way breakfast spot that happens to be delicious

    You could drive down Parker Rd through Franktown and miss this place.  Hint, turn left on CO83, then take the first entrance on your left, and another left.  Its in a strip mall, and is well worth thenhunt.  

    I had the pancake breakfast with egg and sausage - the egg was perfectly cooked but the sausage was thin. Crispy bits on the sausage didn't help any either.  Given the number of local sausage makers, you'd think they would do something better here.

    My wife opted for essentially a kids meal - one egg, bacon and french toast made from half a freshly baked roll. Cinnamon and vanilla in the French toast batter came through and the roll was made in-house, and delicious.  Id like to ty one of these rolls by itself one day.  Did I mention they know how to cook eggs properly.  Yes, it's a lost art.

    the coffee was served in a large mug, but was not really strong enough for me.  The taste was a little tepid.

    All this for less than a twenty. Put it together and you have a keeper.

    There has been a great little restuant in the location of the Grill on the Hill for the past 12 years in Franktown - It was previously known as Susy Qs and served the best breakfasts around.  Sadly since the Grill on the Hill has taken over it is heading steadily downhill.  Poor service,  mediocre food, wait staff with a 1000 excuses.  The menus for breakfast and lunch are very attractive and on a good day service and food is excellent.  Sadly the good days are becoming fewer and further apart.  I would say skip the Grill on the Hill and either keep driving to Elizabeth for a great breakfast at Constantinos or turn round and head to B&B cafe in Castle Rock.

    Grill on the Hill was so good, and the standard has fallen so far that many locals now do not go to the grill as a first choice. Including my friends and I that use to pack 10 to 12 of us in each week for Sunday brunch.  No more.

    Grill - you need to focus on service,   stop the nit picking on charges for substitutions, watch for customers instead of standing gossiping, and then do not serve food that has been left standing "because you forgot about it". Take pride in your resturant and it can return to being the outstanding place it once was.

    A friend told me the breakfasts here were really good so I stopped by to check it out.  You could drive through Franktown a hundred times and not notice this little place tucked into the strip mall on the hill Northeast of town.  The main seating area is rather small, but they have a larger outdoor area.  During cold weather, this area is covered and heated.  

    Today I enjoyed a Pork Carnitas Breakfast Smothered Breakfast Burrito (with egg, pork, potatoes, pico de gallo sauce, and cheese.)  It was a generous portion and rather tasty.  There was a lot (and I mean a lot) of pork carnitas in this burrito.  I kept pulling out chunks the size of a small jar lid.  The potatoes and cheese in it were pretty basic, and i think the eggs may have been a touch overcooked.  The pico de gallo sauce was also a little bland.  However, the whole dish came together rather well, and was a very filling  breakfast.

    The service was excellent.

    Best breakfast around.  The green chili is awesome.  The breakfast burritos, mexican omelet and smothered hashbrowns are the bomb.  Homemade bread.  The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is the coffee.
