Heide's German Restaurant and Lounge

We stopped here for lunch completely by chance on our drive from Yellowstone to Boise. It's a friendly place with four or five tables. The kitchen is about ten feet away. All the food was excellent.

Two of us had their hearty chicken soup to start with. It was marvelously flavored. I then had their Schnitzel (breaded pork) with sauerkraut. After one bite I thought the meat would be a bit dry and plain, but when I squeezed on the lemon and took some sauerkraut with each bite the dish came to life and I finished the whole thing too quickly. There were four of us and everyone enjoyed their meal; the Red Cabbage and Potato Salad were particularly commented upon. We shared two yummy cake slices for desert. We weren't terribly hungry for dinner that night in Boise.

If you live in the area, or are passing through as we were, definitely go and eat at this place. I would even make a detour to enjoy it again, if I was in the area. Enjoy.
