Note: Same owners as Highland Howie's on the East side, different team and atmosphere.

Went to Highland Howie's on the 4th of July and enjoyed a lazy lunch al fresco overlooking the nice countryside of Suamico. The neighbor next to the restaurant seemed to enjoy his hammock just about as much as we enjoyed our bistro table, umbrella, and drinks.

The staff was a bit overwhelmed with a couple of big tables, but worked well as a team and we didn't notice any change in service.

As seems to happen 99% of the time I go out to eat our orders were wrong (see most any of my reviews), but I've long since stopped writing reviews about just the wrong orders and instead try to write about how an establishment fixes the issue.

Each person in my party ordered Highland's chicken and wild rice soup despite sitting outside on a hot sunny day. It was absolutely delicious - a bit thick (had probably been cooking awhile) - but with a great depth of flavor and real, shredded chicken. It's hard to find a restaurant that doesn't use those frozen veins of soup with square chicken pieces.

The rest of our food was good, with the exception of a few aforementioned mistakes in the order that the waiter made up for with an extra free cup of soup. Totally enough for us on a lazy day off.

The atmosphere was divine, though Mother Nature had just about as much to do with it as Suamico's quiet, peaceful rural locale.

The waitstaff hit the sweet spot on keeping our drinks refreshed and our plates cleared while not bothering us so often that we feel they're ushering us out the door.

Would definitely eat there again, and am happy to find another place - on the short list of places in the Green Bay area - that serves a Bloody Brunch.
