The lodge is tucked along the shore of the lake and looks quaint from the outside. But  on entering we were greeted by a tired old man with a laptop who was singing along to classic tunes. His style could be categorized generously as "terrible" but his hat was nice.
We were soon seated in the main dining room. Luckily we had a table near the window as it turns out they have no air conditioning at all. Service was swift and friendly as we opted for the "seafood buffet", which was $25 per person. From a distance it looked impressive but sadly proved to be far from it. The fish was well overcooked, the scallops were mushy. My wife chose crab, which was impossible to eat as the shells were so hard. The sweet corn was exceptionally dry and tasteless. Even the bread was bad; it all seemed to have been sat under the heat-lamps for hours.

The staff were great but the food wasn't.
    Avoid!

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night.  This was one of the few places to get dinner in/near Phelps, where we were staying the weekend.  Our choice was a poor one.

First of all, the ambience of the large dining area was a bit odd.  It was quite dimly lit.  We looked up and noticed that half of the lights in the chandelier were out!  There was a grand piano next to our table that had a large, flatscreen TV perched atop, surrounded by other clutter, which was a bit offensive to a pianist such as myself.  The medium-sized tree (not sure if it was fake or real) without leaves that stood in the center of the dining area seemed totally out of place.

We both ordered steaks, which were cooked properly.  There was a choice of potato or mixed veggies.  Regrettably, we both opted for the veggies, which was an assortment of frozen carrots, cauliflower, zucchini and broccoli that had been microwaved.  My vegetables were mushy and flavorless and my friend's were still cold in the center!  Our meals came with access to the salad/soup bar, which was unimpressive, and a warm loaf of bread, which they were out of.  Our waitress informed us that we would be served a platter of cheese and crackers in lieu of the bread, which turned out to be saltines and packaged breadsticks with two mini ice cream scoops of spreadable cheese.  Not exactly our idea of a "platter of cheese and crackers."

The service was friendly but the food and ambience left much to be desired.  Definitely wish we would have gone out to dinner somewhere else.
