Home Plate Grill & Sportsbar

I'm going to preface this by stating that I have never been here for a meal and have not tried any of the food.   I have only been here to sit at the bar and have a few beers while watching TV.  So, this review is only for the bar.

Home Plate is located way back in the corner of an aging strip mall in a high traffic area in north Pleasant Hill.    The space is evenly divided between the restaurant and the sports bar, with a half wall serving as an effective partition.

The bar itself is fairly small though there are additional bar tables near it.   There's a big screen TV and a reasonable selection of beer.   I can't remember if I saw a pool table but I do remember some sorts of games (darts, perhaps?) behind me.

There's a stage area and while nothing was going on while I was there, the calendar in the men's room gave indication that there are live acts from time to time.

As a sports bar, though, it was lacking something.   I don't know how to explain it, it just seemed, well, dull.    Not a lot of character.

I was going to give this place 2 stars, but since I haven't tried the food I don't want to risk giving the wrong impression.   Plus I got a sense this place is fairly new, so maybe it will improve with age and experience.
