No longer open but the diner is for sale. Updated on 5-28-2013: the diner is actually being torn down and was sold lock stock and barrel to somebody in New Hampshire. If anyone knows where it ends up send me an email to temp@puremoxie.com I would like to visit it again in the future...

Good solid diner food. Inexpensive. Tasty. Friendly waitstaff. Actual jukeboxes in the booth for a quarter a song. Omelets are good. Kid friendly for sure. It is a little small, with the booths being tight for 4 adults, but they do have some tables, as well as some outdoor patio seating.

The Ohio heat can be oppressive though.

I love old diners so when the Hubs and I were in Ottawa recently we decided to try this one. It was during major storms--so the place was almost empty, and our meal was accompanied by pouring rain and tornado sirens. But that didn't stop us from enjoying our meal.

The food was good, though not extraordinary. It was really what I expected of food from an old diner--simple but good food.

Probably the only concern I had was the waitress with a face full of piercings. She was nice enough, and I have no problems with her right to freedom of expression where her own body is concerned. However, I don't think a restaurant is the appropriate venue for that self-expression. Had I been in a bar or some other similar establishment it wouldn't have phased me. But this is the "Hometown Diner." Food should be served without the side of piercings, IMO.

Again though, the food was good and the intimate surroundings and tabletop jukeboxes are charming. Will definitely return.
