Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant

OY.. OMG!

I should have known better.... But like that Sesame Street game... "One of these things is NOT like the other." It was hard to pass up. Every time I'm in town.. I'm always curious about this place. It's not like the other places because it's The ONLY chinese food in town.

St. Mary's doesn't have much in the way of "exotic" foods... So everytime we pass the Hong Kong Chinese restaurant on our way through town, I'm curious.

When we arrived, it was like the restaurant was shocked that someone actually walked through the doors. It's a family run place, and the son working as the host and cashier was NOT customer service oriented. Though I'm sure they're a nice enough family.

Most dishes in the buffet chargers were stuck to the metal pans. I was scared to touch anything "seafood" oriented. Though when they brought out fresh chow mein noodles, I suggested we go for that. The noodles were good!

I think the smart thing to do is order off the Menu: TO GO. That way they make the dish fresh and you don't have to eat at the buffet. I have a strong feeling that off the menu items would be good.

Want a slip and fall lawsuit? This maybe the place to get that. The service was non existent, the floors slippery (ew), and don't look under the tables.. Its not like they sweep often, or EVER.

It's unfortunate, because being the ONLY chinese restaurant in all of St. Marys could be a good thing. You could "represent" and serve REAL good cuisine. Word of mouth travels fast in small towns. But now, the people of St. Mary's has only this restaurant to refer to when they discuss anything Chinese.

Sadly, I was NOT impressed.. (and I had very LOW expectations.)
But happily, no one in my group got sick.
