As a chef (certified, degree, & professionally trained) I KNOW BETTER than to order a steak at a Mom & Pop diner.......nevertheless I do it on occasion when I travel. It NEVER fails that the steak is ALWAYS overcooked!! The pancakes were DELISH though!!! Potatoes were a bit greasy & bland.
Review Source:This restaurant is a perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover." This quaint, homely, local restaurant appears to be a low-quality diner from the outside, however we were pleasantly surprised. Situated in a small town a few minutes from the toll road, it is very convenient for a pit-stop meal.
The food was better than expected from the outside and the chocolate cream pie was delicious! However the waitress was the best part of the experience. She was very attentive, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. Â She will make you feel happy that you had stopped to eat there. I will definitely stop again if I find myself nearby!
Great little place to stop for lunch. Â Chicken noodle soup was homemade, and quite tasty. Â Hot open face breaded veal sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was wonderful. Â Veal still had a crunch to the exterior even though it was smothered in gravy. Â Very friendly and attentive staff. Â Very much a small town diner. Â Good solid choice for food.
Review Source:We've eaten here lots of times. Nice people. Great place to have breakfast. They were very helpful when we had a birthday party there with 50+ people.
Update... Angelo always tells me they make the best pizza in the world, so I finally tried it, and he might be right. It's good! We had the Angelo's Special. Homemade crust and homemade sauce.
Local diner that offers a welcome break from all the turnpike plaza McDonald's.
It's a very mom & pop kind of diner just south of the turnpike. Â If your stomach has started to turn itself inside out but you're still fighting the dark side that is fast food plazas and rest stops, then this is a great place to order some decent chow.
Having traveled to many states from California to D.C., I will admit that there are better diners out there with tastier food but this place has a real nice local allure and the staff is friendly so it makes your visit feel quite welcoming and the food isn't bad either. Â We ordered omelets, sausage links, corn beef hash (a bit dry), mac and cheese (wish it had more flavor but it wasn't greasy so that's a plus), and fresh squeezed juice (which tasted great).
Not much more to say, keep your eyes open so you don't pass it up and don't be surprised how busy it can get. Â The worn-in, probably-looks-the-way-it-did-on-opening-day is appealing so I hope they never change the interior or exterior.
Overall 3 stars, but if you've never left this town then it's probably like a 5 star. Â Hmmmm, ok, I'll give it 4.
