I live in Zion and would love to frequent this establishment more often; however, it is a shame that they do not serve good food and cold beer. The place itself is very nice, very good atmosphere, very pretty. But, the cooler system needs updated and the bottled beer is always warm. I don't drink draft beer, but they had quite the selection. We decided to give them another chance last night (07/28/15). I was there with my boyfriend and my mother. We all had Miller Lite and they were warm, as always. The waitress brought us frosted glasses, but didn’t help much. I ordered a burger, which was pretty good, but I ordered it medium and it was rare. I thought it would be spicy since it had jalapeno aioli and banana peppers, but it was not. Mom had a Rueben and it was so soggy she couldn’t even pick it up. The BF ordered the French dip, which wasn't roast beef, but it was more like minute steak. It was over cooked and dry, the au jus was basically salty bouillon water, and skimpy on the horseradish. The coleslaw was tasteless - like cabbage and milk. All came with house-made chips which were cooked so hard and so salty, you could barely eat them. The cook likes his/her salt, that's for sure. Everything was over salted. So for 3 warm beers and 3 sucky sandwiches, the bill was $47. Salty all the way around. Out of the many, many chances we've given them, since they are so close to home, we have only had a two good meals there - wings and fish sandwich. The menu LOOKS awesome, but the food IS NOT. And warm beer is NEVER good. If you like draft beer and wings and a nice, cozy bar, then you would probably like it there. But I DO NOT recommend going there for dinner and a cold bottle of beer, because you won't get it. The Hublersburg Inn should get "no star" rating but that wasn't an option.
Good food, friendly service and a nice cozy atmosphere. The crab chips are a unique creation and delicious. Fries are fresh cut - I would recommend the sweet potato fries! The desserts are homemade and excellent, the pumpkin pie (seasonal I'm guessing) was very good. The prices were reasonable and the portions generous. All in all a nice relaxing place to get a well prepared meal.
Review Source:Uh it is good I live right next to the restaurant and when me and my dad were there it's service was BAD. My cheese steak bread was in two different slices. Let me tell you. Getting hot pieces of steak burning your leg is not nice...... So the service was bad and since the menu change and chef change it wasn't very good. No more onion rings. Bad choice. Bad.
Review Source:The Nature Inn at Bald Eagle raves about the place. It is my understanding you can't get a seat past 5:30pm. I don't get it. I thought it was average at best. Local tavern to me and very old and run down to be kind. Food (chicken) was okay. My (adult) daughter enjoyed hers (same dish). You can still have charm fixing things up a bit. It is a bed and breakfast too. I would be concerned.
Review Source:When another restaurant owner recommends a restaurant, I pay attention! Â The food was amazing. I was popping in for a quick dinner by myself and was very surprised, considering the location (middle of nowhere, PA).
I didn't spend much time looking at the menu as the waitress described an awesome special: grilled swordfish with an olive tapenade and and asparagus / tomato / balsamic salad on the side. Given my Paleo requirements: YES, PLEASE!
My waitress, Danelle, was polite and fast. I could ask for no more!
If you are passing through the middle of nowhere, I would highly recommend you try this place out.
Very noisy and indifferent service. Indifferent to poor food. Onion rings with tasteless batter. Chicken Marsala: chicken overcooked and tough, sauce heavy and more like a brown sauce than a light marsala. Fish and chips tough and overcooked. Not a fun meal and quite overpriced.
This would rate a 3 as a diner. As a restaurant, it's rather poor.
This is the most amazing place in central PA. Â Haven't ever had a bad meal or even an average meal! Â It's always delicious!!! Â The desserts are created by hand by one of the staff and are OUTSTANDING!!! Â Try the coconut cream or the peanut butter pies!!! Â Yummmmm!!!!! Â Their wings are the best anywhere! Â Try the "SGR" flavor (spicy garlic ranch). Â
The servers and bartenders are knowledgeable, cordial and efficient. Â The prices are better than reasonable for the amounts and the quality of the food you get. Â
LoveloveLOVE this place!!!!!
Yummy! Â I had the wings after a long day at work. Â Definitely get them if they are on special. Â They know what they are doing. Â I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu too. Â It was a bit overcooked on the bottom but the flavors were there. Â I'd probably not have it again, but it was good. Â I'd definitely go back for the wings. Â Great atmosphere too.
