Taking into consideration that Hunan Village serves the very specific genre of Americanized Chinese inspired food, I was well pleased by my recent lunch with granny here. The portions are beyond generous. (And I am a girl who can eat!) The meal was preceded by a very peppery hot and sour soup, which 'hit the spot' on a rainy Humboldt day. I ordered the Szechuan Prawns. The prawns were really prawns, not sad little shrimp. And they were plentiful. The veggies were fresh. Unfortunately, the dish had the slightly American taste of the sauce that is more sweet than spicy. My grandmother enjoys their Moo Goo Gai Pan, and it did look tasty. I would come here again, order the same dish (and perhaps just ask for it without the sweet sauce).
