After a day of moving into a home just streets away, we needed some dinner! Â So we came here, 6mo baby and all. Â We sat down right away, but it took a while for our drink orders to be taken. Â Seemed like one of the two waitresses was new-ish and wasn't really taking orders, she kept waiting for the other waitress to come by. Â Waffle fries were VERY good but nothing else really stands out from the norm of bar food. Â the interior is very cool though and that is why I've given 4 instead of 3.
Review Source:Thank god they banned smoking in doors, after years of avoiding this place for that very reason. Still they could use a coat of paint to remove the lasting odor.
This place is a sports bar, plain and simple. it caters to the locals mostly and I would not really recommend outsiders going here alone. Everyone will be friendly but its just nice to ignore being stared at by engaging in your own company.
The beer on tap is nothing special, all cheap and domestic. The food is plain burgers and friend chicken.
But hey, its the only bar in town!
I'm originally from Hillsdale- Item #1 on my 'Things to do when you visit home" list is The Hunt Club. It's a very cozy, home-town bar scene for me. Here's what you order: biggest Newcastle they have (on tap!) and the fried pickles.
Some might say 'fried pickles' gross. To those people I say shut up and give me yours then!
The beauty of the pickles is twofold: the pickle is good. Tastes like Claussen. The breading is crispy and not too thick.
BUT they woudl be NOTHING- NOTHING, I say! Without the dipping sauce.
It's a thick, dill, ranch-y sauce that sticks well and tastes like heaven.
So trust me- Newcastle and fried pickles. It's a think of beauty.
AND if anyone gets/has the recipe for the sauce... I'd be willing to pay you for it :)
We were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this gem of a bar/restaurant during a road trip to Hillsdale, MI. Â Beautiful wood/brick building, vaulted, decorative tin ceiling. Â Nice bar. Â Lots of space. Â An upstairs, too, that we didn't check out on this visit.
We sat at the bar. Â Amanda was our bartender/server: Â She is a very nice, professional and service-oriented asset to this place. Â She helped us with our decision on what to eat: Steak Bites (sliced steak on top of crispy toasted bread, topped with huge onion rings on each piece. Â Generous portion at a great value) and the Tuna Salad Plate, which was a unique blend of something wonderful that I won't wager to guess; if you like tuna salad, you will love it.
We noted a couple of signs near the bar: Â LaBatt Blue 14 oz. drafts for $1.50 "all day, every day" and Long Neck Coors light for $2.00, "all day, every day." Â Otherwise, our cocktails were excellent and a good value.
Wish this place was near where we lived; I'd be spending a lot of time here if it was!
One of the best salads Ive ever had, it almost made me cry it was so good. Â Some say "it's just a spinach salad...". But it's so much more. Â Complete with a very moist chicken beast, and cherries, red onion, water chestnuts, mushrooms, and most importantly bacon. Â And if that wasn't good enough, bacon dressing! Â Yep, that's what I typed, bacon!!! Â Kinda of a vinaigrette version of the old German style dressing grandma used to make. Â Salad heaven.... Â Yum.
Review Source:Going out on the town for some frosty brews, hot dinners and keno has long been a tradition for many of the men in my life (well, my stepdad, his best friends and all the boys). I, too, have partaken in the small-town America "nightlife" that is the Hunt Club.
Think "Cheers" but it's in Hillsdale, Michigan. The food is delicious, too. Pretty much whatever you want, they've got it. It's not dress-uppy and not skeezy. This is just the right place to end a busy day. Shower, change, roll a j, jet over to downtown and enjoy. The Hunt Club is one of those hometown spots where the beers are cold and you get to play keno while enjoying your meal. Thanks for reading.
