Hwy 50 Brew House

Hwy 50 opened three weeks ago and has quickly become our favorite hang out near Camp Muscatatuck. Although the new owners are still renovating and sprucing the place up, it already has a nice feel to it. The crowd is a mix of locals, folks who work at the base and a pretty interesting array of characters who come into town for training events.

The bartenders are very attentive and I have never had a problem getting their attention even when it's busy. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food is surprisingly good, especially the hamburgers.

There is a fair sized outdoor seating area as well as seats around the bar and tables inside. Smoking is allowed inside but I suspect (and am hopeful) this will change, especially since smokers have plenty of room outside.

There is live music, open mic nights and karaoke, so there is usually something going on. The sound system is still getting dialed in because they have excellent equipment that could easily fill a bigger venue. With a little tweaking and some more experience with the crowds, it should be just right.

If you live in the area or are passing the Camp Muscatatuck, you should absolutely give it a try.
