My husband and I took our two kids here for lunch on a Wednesday. Â The kids both had chicken fingers, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. Â I had the veggie flatbread, which was tasty but kind of difficult to eat. Â The drinks were good and the atmosphere was nice - we sat at a table looking out on the ocean.
Review Source:This place is the worst in town. The service is awful and the manager is a horrible person with no sense of customer service. He is so arrogant and doesn't care at all for the guests. Large groups beware! I was there with a large group who had reserved the place in advance. Inn on the Blues? Never again.
Review Source:I don't know how the food is as we never made it in the door. Â We had 9 people, 6 adults and 3 kids and we requested to sit outside. Â The hostess said they did not have a table large enough, however after observing 3 open tables we said we would split up and do separate checks and they wouldn't accommodate us. Â WTF people, Ill never go back, your loss.
Review Source:The view was out of site, drinks were a bit pricey and the oysters were sub par for the $15 per 1/2 dozen...what resteraunt doesn't have tobasco??? Â Survey says, "Inn On the Blues." Â The blue plate special was a moderate surprise which we enjoyed but again a bit over priced for 6 scallops some calamari and some haddock. Â Decent spot could use some elbow grease and a bit of old fashion TLC on the floors and deck area. Â If you're in short sands and don't want to give up your spot to drive somewhere give the Inn a whirl.
Review Source:We had never been here before even though we are locals so when we ordered tickets for a show on-line, we didn't know what to expect. Upon early arrival to get good seats, we discovered that the seating is arranged as the orders come through. Now we know that we can show up at the last minute if we wanted to. The place is not that big and everyone had a table. We were right in front of a packed house. We were able to casually enjoy ourselves, order drinks and food while we waited for the comedian. Certainly above expectations for the process of seating. We ordered Tha' Mack Daddy flatbread and an order of onion rings. While the flatbread was delicious, the onion rings were incredibly greasy. They were so greasy that I took the shell off and only ate the onion. Unfortunately, the grease ruined our appetite for more food. My husband enjoyed the selection of beer on tap. Prices were good, too. Will definitely go back. Truly enjoyable experience without the hustle and bustle in a city to see entertainment.
Review Source:Showed up on a sunday night around 6pm. sat outside, the hostess informed us a show was starting at 9pm (inside) and if we wanted to stay past 7pm we would have to pay a 12 dollar cover. well considering it took almost the hour to get drinks, order food and recieve food. we decided to pay the cover and hang out for the show. The show was good however once the main act started our server stood at the end of the bar to watch (now its music and the guy wasnt good looking so i dont know why she cant listen why she works) the other servers were working very hard, but our server just stood there and i could see the other tables she was serving as well were looking around for some service. its bad servers like that, that get restaurants bad reviews, i wish i remember her name...
Review Source:How are you a restaurant in Maine and not know how to serve a LOBSTaH ROLL???
I stopped with my family for lunch this past weekend. I've been there a few times in the past and usually have a good time. I ordered the lobster roll and a 1/2 dozen oysters. The server brought the oysters out on a warm plate and like the plate, the oysters were room temperature. If you're going to serve oysters get some shaved ice...This is pretty basic stuff. Oysters are served COLD, not room temperature.
Next came the lobster roll which was lobster meat on a hamburg bun (they call it a brioche roll to be fancy but I would have been happier with an actual hot dog bun). This is how lobster rolls are supposed to be served. The portion was fine and it was mainly claw meat which is good but again, the plate came out almost too hot to handle. How do you serve a lobster roll on a hot plate???
Dear Inn on the Blue management,
Take some of your plates and put them in a cooler so if you are going to serve a lobster roll you can pull out an ice-cold plate to serve it on....
Then invest in a couple bags of shaved ice and keep your oysters submerged in it until they are served. After an order comes in, open the oysters and arrange them on a COLD plate of shaved ice with appropriate garnish.
Thanks...
ME
Lastly...this is Short Sands, not The Hamptons.... $10 for a mixed drink is a bit much...
I have to say that while here over this past weekend, I had the most wonderful and unusual raviolis I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I'd been here before for drinks only. I've seen the menu which has a little bit of everything on it. This time, we were grabbing a bite after already having enjoyed a cheese plate at Blue Sky nearby. I'm not a vegetarian, but the sweet pea and meyer lemon ravioli in sweet corn and basil broth sounded intriguing. They were *phenomenal*. I wish I lived closer so I could have them whenever the mood struck me! The only two cons on our visit were that they had no fried chicken sandwich (which it seems they could easily have accommodated as requested by my DC based on other menu items) and my debit card was mysteriously declined when the server attempted to charge the $50-something tab (though 15 minutes later I easily charged $250.00 on it for lodging). Hmmmm - operator error perhaps? I've found the live entertainment to be hit and miss, though I admit, I'm not much of a blues gal. No matter - I'd go back for the sublime ravioli and the nice location.
Review Source:3 stars is generous, and is a direct result of the view of the ocean and the lovely porch space to dine on. Beyond that-- terrible.
The ladies and I made our way over here in search of seafood and cocktails on a warm summer Sunday afternoon, after several hours of sunning on the beach. It seemed like the perfect choice-- cocktails made in pint glasses (I love generous bartenders), fried oysters, crabcakes, salads, and beer. Plus, there'd be live music starting up any minute. Yep, like I said, the perfect choice.
We started off with drink orders-- I ordered a Sam Summer, and the others ordered cocktails (mojitos, and some sort of frozen lime drink). The bartender got confused by my beer order, saying, hmmmm I don't know if we still have Sam Summer, I mean, we might have Oktoberfest on tap by now, yadda yadda yadda... so I ease his worries by saying, hey buddy, I love beer, just bring me whatcha got.
He rolls up a few minutes later with their cocktails and an Oktoberfest for me. Okay, so they start that off a bit early (no more Summer ales left in August?) but that's okay.. until I go to sip it... flat. Yeah, gross flat beer.
He's nice enough about it, though doesn't seem to believe me, as a trip behind the bar reveals the gas is working just fine. Whatevs. I order a mojito instead. Delicious. Moving on.
I can't decide between the "flatbread of the day" and the fried oysters, so when he makes his way back to take our order, I ask... "Oh right!" he says, surprised. "We're out of, like, almost everything today. We got slammed last night and made like $15,000. It was crazy." TMI? I don't need to know your restaurant's $$ specifics, buddy. Anyway, he goes on to say they're out of pizza, out of oysters, out of crabcakes, out of chili, out of the veggie platter, and out of a few other things that put frowns on our faces... so what do they have left??
Well I ended up with a veggie burger (this, after my specific quest for seafood). They messed up my order too, and I had to send it back (since when does "veggie burger with mushrooms and cheese" mean "black bean wrap with ranch"?) and he seemed frustrated with me, despite it being, well, his fault. One of my dining buddies had a scallop platter though that I must say was delicious. Stole the show.
I must say, this spot was a huge disappointment. Between the unadvertised lack of almost everything on their menu, mixed up drink and food orders, and wierd, stressful service, you can betcha bottom dollar I won't be back. HOWEVER, the view is gorgeous, so perhaps you'll catch them on a good day... watch the ocean, check out all the people below, and enoy summer while it lasts.
Cute setting, bad experience.
We went last Sat. night and some blues guy was "singing." Â I can tolerate lots of types of music and generally like blues, but this guy just sounded like yelling.
The worst, however, were the drinks. Â The margaritas had NO tequila in them and just tasted like cheap mix.
2 stars for the outdoor seating and the touristy vacation feel, I guess.
