J V's Downtown Bar & Grill

Best wings i've ever had.  Sweet chili sauce over a wonderfully smoked chicken wing. Yum.

Just your average bar with very opinionated older gentlemen surrounding the bar arguing with one another.  Ordered a turkey club on the pretzel bread, turkey was cut thick but dry as was the bread.  The sweet potato fries were good and the server was quick to refill drinks.  Don't think I would go back unless a group of people just wanted to grab a drink and an app to snack on.

Lunch on Saturday.   Nice bar and staff.   Ordeded the Barbeque Sampler with Pulled Pork, Chicken, Smoked Brisket and Ribs.   The only kind thing I can say about the Sampler is that one of the sides, the house made baked beans were exellent.  The other side, Mac-n-Cheese was ordinary.   The pulled pork & chicken were dry, with little smoke flavor.  The Brisket was rubbery, possibly microwaved to heat.   The ribs were inedible.  So tough, they were difficult to cut apart, much less eat.  This was obviously carry-over from a previous day.  A BBQ no no.  The meat must come straight from the smoker.  If you can't do that, don't serve it.   Too bad.  Hoped for good IL BBQ.
