We've recently moved into Magalia and have quickly come to love Jaki's Hilltop Cafe. The food is all cooked fresh there. They even roast the turkey and beef daily. Desserts are yummy...especially the bread pudding. The staff is always friendly. But best of all the prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend Jacki's.

My parents just moved to Magalia and have discovered Jaki's Hilltop Cafe and love it!  On our visit over Christmas holiday we had breakfast there and loved it too.  Good size portions for the price and very friendly service too. Can't wait to get back to Magalia and another meal at Jaki's with Mom and Dad :-)

Signed, Marc and Anne's daughter :-)

This is the best restaurant in town.  I'm moving about 30 miles away from this little diner but I will be back.  Don't let the $$ fool you.  That's just by local standards.  I can eat there  with ordering the chef's special with my girlfriend and beers for $25.  Now on to the food.  This experience is like no other. Very casual food.  It's a family place so the owner may even come by and give you your food.  And the dinner is amazing.  A soup to start and I recommend the french onion.  It's great here.  Then comes your entree. Which if I closed my eyes I could pretend I was at the finest of restaurants in 1950.  This isn't a bad thing.  The food is perfect every time.  It's made with a lot of talent and love.  Not only one of my favorite spots in Magalia.  This is one of my favorite spots period.

I really like this place when I am eating in Magalia. Their menu has a large selection any time of the day. All the food I have had has been good. The Cobb salad is so fresh and delicious, with fresh cooked bacon and plenty of yummy bleu cheese crumbles. The salads come with plenty of dressing, you will never have to ask for more. I will say though that their fries used to be better. They used to be these big fat crinkle fries cooked to crispy perfection. They have change to a shoestring type I am not that fond of. Hopefully they will bring the old ones back. Overall, good food for the price and great people running the place.

On our way down from our cabin to the Chico State graduation we stopped here for breakfast. It was a totally random selection, first thing we saw. We happened to get lucky that day because the place was great. I, like the prior reviewer, also ordered The Balboa. It was unlike any breakfast I have ever had. I couldn't resist ordering it after reading the description: French toast, cream cheese, and marmalade hmm what's not to like? My husband also ordered something unique called "Eggs Paris" or something like that. It was similar to Eggs Benedict, but with bacon, steamed spinach, and tomatoes. We both really enjoyed our selections. For a small town diner they sure had a diverse menu. Our waitress was working alone on the floor, but she managed to take care of us quickly. The service was awesome. It started to get busy as we were finishing up, I would imagine they had more servers about to come out.

I would definitely recommend the Hilltop Cafe for breakfast if you are int his neck of the woods.

I usually do not try unique items at restaurants I am unfamiliar with because my stomach has disagreed with me too many times.  But this time I took a chance.  I ordered "The Balboa" (after Rocky Balboa I don't know?).  It is a unique variation of French Toast that has orange marmalade cream cheese inside.  After the first bite I knew this was the best French toast I had ever eaten.  I never would have thought to add cream cheese but now that I have tasted it I can't imagine French Toast without it!

And beyond the food everything else was great as well.  Every waitress was friendly and helpful.  The prices were very reasonable.  The portion sizes were generous.  And the atmosphere was clean and welcoming.
