Food was very good, but this is a bar that serves food not really a restaraunt. Took my family there and ten feet away were some guys dropping the f-bomb talking about getting banned from other bars. There are possibly ten tables at the most and they are all within 20 feet of the bar. I would take my wife back, but not my kids.

A good burger joint. Crowded, noisy. What you would expect.

Tried a lot of places in the area, but Jebby's is a surprising standout. We tried many things -garlic parm wings, hot wings, fried green beans - all excellent. Specials menu was great - crab cake BLT was delicious. Service was friendly and pleasant. Good beer selection and drink specials as well.  We will definitely be back.

Delicious food, great service, and fun atmosphere!  Some of the best clam chowder I've ever had.

"Like kissing baby Jesus"...the thought that hit me as I had my first bite of the very authentic low-country style cooking.  After a significant wait for our food, I was ready to give Jebby's three stars...the food changed my mind.

My wife and I stopped in on our way home from Wilmington, we hit them right during the Sunday lunch rush, so the long wait we had and the small, noisy, crowded dining room can be forgiven.

To start off, the Bloody Mary the bartender made had the right amount of spice to it as well as a good amount of old-bay, which I like.  I was very disappointed the Clams Casino was sold out, but that feeling quickly faded when the fried green tomatoes, low-country shrimp rolls, and she crab chowder showed up.

The she crab chowder was thick and loaded with crab meat, not runny and watery like some places.  The shrimp rolls were amazing and their fried green tomatoes were some of the best I have had.

The place has a very coastal Carolina feel to it and having had these dishes in the heart of the low-country in South Carolina, this place gets it right.  Great value for the price, some of the best cooking in the area, I definitely recommend Jebby's.  Just try to avoid the middle of the lunch rush on Sunday.  I know we will be back.

Love this place! Always had friendly service and excellent food! Southern fried chicken is amazing as well as the crab dip and soups and anything you order!

We love Jebby's! Everything we've ordered has been great so far. Big portions; we always leave full!
The fried green beans are our go-to appetizer. And the comfort food is always my first choice (chicken friend steak, pot roast, etc mmmm). My husband raves about the chicken pot pie, although I haven't tried it.
Jebby's is certainly the best place to eat in the Hampstead area! The bartender is personable and remembers faces. And we've noticed the service has gotten much better than the first couple times we went, which is why I thought about giving it 4 stars, but went with 5!!)

This place rocks! Seriously, its the go-to place in the space between Jacksonville, NC and Wilmington, NC. Normally, I stick to their specials of the day which you can read on their Facebook page. Specifically, I had THE BEST low-country grilled cheese sandwich the first time I tried the place out during the summer of 2012. Basically it consisted of fried green tomatoes, heaps of bacon, two types of melted cheese in-between two pieces of texas bread, and toasted...I can't wait until that comes back! I also enjoy their 50 cent Chicken Wings, and fish tacos. This place is where to be if you are looking for a NFL (or any sports game on vacation) or if you feel like being social. There are 8 or 9 large screen TVs to ensure your sports team enjoyment. They normally have beer specials that constantly change...just look at their multitude of beer tabs lined on the far wall on the left.
Don't let the small amount of parking in the front scare you off...thats usually filled up. Just go into the back lot and find a spot. I don't think you will be disappointed that you stopped by for a little appetizer, a cold beer, and friendly patrons/staff.

Best place to catch a game or a bite to eat in the area.  Great staff and atmosphere, always looking for a reason to go to Jebby's!

Stopped by for a quick bite after the beach. Friendly, safe atmosphere and the food was great. Definitely try the clam chowder.

For some reason, Jebby's reminded me quite a bit of Merlotte's in "True Blood". Maybe it was the fact that we were in the "South" or that the waitresses were dressed in t-shirts and jean shorts. Whatever it was, I definitely got a supernatural vibe. Luckily, however, there were not any encounters with either vampires, werewolves, were-panthers, or fairies!

What we did get was friendly service and tasty, reasonably priced food. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, and was also packed the evening that the fam and I decided to visit. Thus, we were very kindly told that there was a 20 minute wait and that we could wait either outside or inside at the bar. We opted for the more scenic option (outdoors), and thus all grabbed a seat on two smallish (but adequate) white benches outside of the restaurant. After only 10 minutes, the hostess/waitress came outside and informed us that our table was ready.

The inside of the restaurant is largely no frills with standard wooden tables, paper napkins and silverware, a decent sized bar, and a very diverse mix of diners. Interestingly, the seating capacity of the restaurant (as listed on the back wall) is 54 people whereas there are no less than 9 flat screen televisions in the joint. Thus, there is at least a 6:1 ratio of peeps to telly here. Not too shabby, and this probably explains why the place gets so packed on game days as mentioned in other reviews.

As for food, I opted for the she crab soup as a starter and it was amazing! Fresh, flavorful, and served with a buttered piece of toasted herb bread, it was definitely some of the best soup that I have ever tasted. For my main course, I opted for the fried shrimp po' boy (being a huge po' boy fan), and I was satisfied if not overwhelmed by the dish. The po' boy was definitely much more than merely edible, but it seemingly was lacking somewhat in the spice/flavor department. Given that the collards had just run out, I opted for steamed broccoli as a side which was clearly more for the health conscious tilt than the flavor. Regardless, the broccoli served well as a po' boy side. On a semi-related note, the sides here warrant a shout-out as there is quite a variety including broccoli, collards, spicy grits, spinach, french fries, onion rings, string beans, and many others that I cannot remember. A varied sides selection always equates to points in my book (I'm just saying).

With respect to other dishes had/shared in my party, the spicy grits were indeed spicy but in a way that enhanced the dish's flavor, the crab cakes were thought to be stellar all around (three people in the party chose this dish which came with a wonderful side medley of potatoes and veggies), and the dessert options that were indulged in (peach/blueberry cobbler and a brownie with ice cream) left many unbuckling their belts.

All in all, Jebby's on 17 is very much worth visiting for some true low-country cuisine and friendly service should you ever be in the Hampstead/Topsail Island area!

We ate here on Tuesday for lunch, after reading other Yelp reviews. Wednesday was the 4th of July, so Jebby's was closed, and we had to wait until Thursday to go back. Seriously, it's that good. Everything we had was delicious, from their onion rings, fries, and fried okra to burgers and po boys. More people need to check this restaurant out, though; it was empty both days we went at lunch. Hopefully they're busier at night. There are daily specials for lunch and dinner to keep you interested, and the waitstaff is friendly and attentive.  Do yourself a favor and go to Jebby's!

So-update...  We drove by on a Friday night, and the place was PACKED!!  Looks like lunch is the time to go!

Awesome service. Fantastic crab soup, probably the best I've ever had. Food is cheap but quality. Only reason 4 instead of 5 is size of menu is tiny. And the place is small.

An unexpected great place! Went for a quick lunch on Memorial Day. Great service. Tasty food. Diverse crowd. Didn't get in to the beer but saw they had a nice selection of craft brews and even a pretty decent wine list.  If this was lunch I would love to check it out for dinner some time.

This place is awesome! I'm really upset with myself that I've driven by this place literally hundreds of times ad never stopped by until 3 days ago. The wife and I were driving around searching for a new place to eat in Wilmington, when that didn't work out we headed to Hampstead. Very good decision. We went to Jebby's in the middle of the day on a Friday so the crowd of a big game weekend wasn't a factor. Our waitress was great and very friendly, so the service was excellent.

The food was even better than the service. We got the fried green tomatoes as a starter, holy $#!+ is the only phrase that comes to mind when I'm trying to describe how good they were. I'm originally from an area where you run into a lot of very good fried green tomatoes so I know what I'm talking about when critiquing them. These were so much better then any I've ever had before, so I will now have to tell my dear aunt that she has no idea what she's doing, and that she really needs fix these things properly. Next, our entrees. The wife had a fried shrimp po-boy. This was risky for me because I've come to find out that po-boys typically aren't done well in this neck of the woods. Thankfully though, Jebby's po-boy completely renewed our faith in the po-boy as a whole. It was fantastic. I has the BBQ bacon cheddar burger, it was equally fantastic. The burger was fresh, the cheese was plentiful, and the sauce was great. Throw all of that in with the fact that it was on Texas toast and you got a very happy guy. Did I mention that both of our plates also had fresh cut fries piled high on them? Nothing but good stuff. We're actually planning on a weekly trip to Jebby's now. So do yourself a favor and go there.

We've been to Hampstead, NC, three times in three years and we always visit Jebby's.  Nice bar scene - great food and terrific wait staff.  We are definately fans.

We were on our way to Wilmington when I thought "Hey, let me just check Yelp and see if there's anything on our way that looks interesting." I mean, we'd travelled that road 50 times and never stopped anywhere, so why not? And lo and behold, Jebby's popped up not a mile from where we were, so that's where we pulled in.

And if I could sum up my review in three words, it would be: Wow. Just...wow.

The menu was not your typical bar food. I had She Crab soup, a fried oyster po'boy, and breaded fries (yes, breaded fries--they're as decadent as they sound). My husband had the oyster stew, a fried egg/bacon/cheeseburger, and onion rings. All fresh and hand made (even the dressings and dips). YUM.

They did warn us that game day Sundays are super busy (and might be standing room only) so keep that in consideration for your visits.

    We will definitely be back.

The Chef needs to be on Top Chef.  Love the food!!!  Wish the place was bigger but worth the wait if it's full.

Overheard someone at the gym talking about the chef and creative/fabulous food. Took my family there for diinner. Doesn't look like much from outside, but don't judge a book by it's cover! Staff very friendly and the food was fabulous! I had the shrimp and grits for $12 and it was terrific! Best i've ever had! Kids loved the fried green beans and sweet sauce. Cant wait to go back!

Jebby's is a pretty decent place.  The floors are all tile and the space is smallish, so if there are more than a few groups of people, you essentially have to speak loudly or yell softly to have a conversation.  The food is very good, but a tish on the expensive side for what you get (it's a $9.00 cheeseburger) given the very low key Hampstead environment.

All in all, it's A-ok.  There certainly are better places to eat, but you have to drive 30 minutes to the heart of Wilmington... probably the best bar/diner in the Hampstead area.

Great neighborhood bar with food to match. Lots of TV screens to watch sports with a menu of great bar food as well as full dinners. Salads made with real lettuces (not iceberg) and fantastic sweet potato fries.  It's a winner!

It's a new bar/restaurant but I've eaten there 3 times now and all the people I've recommended it to have loved it also. The food is fantastic -- fresh, clean, and well-made. My favorites are the fried green tomatoes and the steak and cheese sandwich (OMG is that good! It's shaved ribeye with melted Swiss and sauteed mushrooms).  Their salads are pretty good too.  They have a different soup of the day, but we got it each time and it was awesome!  Definitely try the soup. And they have a great selection of beers. The service is fast and friendly (I felt like I was in a local diner instead of a bar).  The decor is nice with some big screen TVs if you're looking for a game.  Overall a great experience!
