I was in Jackson this past weekend. We were on our way to eat at another restaurant when I saw this place. It has been a while since I have had Mediterranean food, so we decided to stop.
It was one of the best decision. The menu had all kinds of dishes. I went with the one that had one of everything. The gyro meat was by far the shinning star. It is the best I have ever had. It was tender and juicy, and had great flavor. The falafels, were deep fried with a hard outside, but a nice soft inside. Also, the fried kibbeh was a little over cooked on the outside, but the inside was tender. Normally the salad dressing are bland, but this dressing was very flavorful and I finished the whole thing.
I was sad to see the bad reviews here on yelp. I noticed most were driven towards the hookah aspect. We did not try the hookahs, but they are well worth a visit and I can't wait to go back.
I should have know this place was going to be something when the manager, waiter, and chef were all Latinos. Â No breath of a Mediterranean or Lebanese person around. Â The food was what you would write home to mom about. Â The taboli was the consistency of lightly chopped grass...and about as tasty. Â The moussaka was was stew of squash and eggplant, and after two bites I pushing it aside. Â I had the vegetable plate, so I can't comment on the meats. Â The staff there was very nice and prompt, but it's not the place I would go for good Greek food. Â I went at lunch, on a weekday, so I can't tell you about the booze or smoking preferences.
Review Source:I used to love going to this place! The lamb kabob plate was one of my favorites and I still crave their food. Â However, the staff really creeped me out and were at times pushy. Â They made snide comments and sat down at our table once! Â I tried ordering takeout, but when I came to pick it up I experienced the same thing. Â They were very inappropriate and kept asking to see my drivers license, even though I was paying cash and wasn't ordering alcohol. Â I would LOVE to go back, but unless they fire all the staff and rehire non-shady creepers, I won't be going there again.
Review Source:Can't believe there is a Hookah Bar in Jackson! Â It's true--kinda shady, but it's true. Â
The Mediterranean food here is good, not really comparable to some of the other Mediterranean food I've eaten in my life, but good. Â
As far as the hookah part is concerned, I can't say it compares to the hookah experience I had while in Istanbul, but it's impressive that there is one in Jackson. Â
If you want to drink alcohol with your meal, this is not the place. Â We ordered a beer and all they had were warm Budweisers. Â Good food though, and if you want the hookah experience, they've got it.
