The scenery is incredible but that is about the only good quality of this resort-restaurant.  The food was possibly the most bland, fatty, unsatisfying food I have ever had though the restaurant is pretty.  Staff were nice.  Hotel rooms and cabins were absolutely awful and insanely overpriced.  There is no air conditioning so the rooms were saunas and the cabins had bunk beds and concrete floors.  Seriously?  If it was only $30 a night that'd be fine but it was more than 4 times that much!

There are plenty of other places on lakes in the Adirondacks that have the great scenery AND great food.  Don't waste your time or money at Jimbo's unless you want to pay resort prices but get treated like you're a 10 year old at camp.

An absolutely beautiful spot to hold your family reunion or wedding. Our very large family and many friends just spent a 3 day weekend at Jimbo's/ Point O Pines. The main reception room is a gorgeous space with soaring ceiling, huge wooden beams, stone fireplace (gas) and windows overlooking Brant Lake. Wait! mustn't forget to mention the fish, foxes, moose and elk heads on the walls-- (a big hit with the 2 year olds.)
The "Boathouse" on the water, just steps away, is a lovely large room with windows on 3 sides for a winter ceremony.
The hotel-style rooms were very nicely appointed- no frills, - excellent beds and nice private bathrooms. It seemed like it was recently remodeled, beds, linens and fixtures seemed brand new. No TVs, radios, coffee pots. No cribs. Some wifi.

The staff and organizers were very easy to work with, organized and available. This was important to us as we were organizing this gathering from hundreds of miles and different time zones away. My only complaint is that even though we ordered and consumed 58 bottles of wine- almost 5 cases - they did not give us any case discounts. Really-a 200 % markup on all 58 bottles?
The bartenders worked hard for us and did a great job.

The food was nicely presented, basic banquet food. They worked hard with the bride to create a special Adirondack meal - it was lovely and delicious.
The continental breakfasts were disappointing; the cook needs to bake the scones and muffins a bit more, all were underdone. A toaster would have been nice to heat up the pastries and/or make toast.

If you are looking for a venue in the Adirondacks, about 4 hours north of NYC, I would definitely check this place out.

Jimbo's. A classy restaurant right on Brant Lake. It is the mess hall of a summer girl's camp. Let's begin with the LBD Review.

I went there for New Years Eve with my girlfriend and her family. We are all NJ people, but they have a house in Chestertown, so we enjoy taking the trek up there. They went to Jimbo's a couple of years ago and remember liking it alot. They were serving a 4 course meal for the night, complete with entertainment.

The environment: This place is a huge log cabin with beautiful foresty decor. Elkheads, Foxes, Bear, Deer, etc all line the top of the walls and watch you as you munch out. There's a beautiful fire place with couches and chairs surrounding it. If you want to take a break from your feast, you have a nice escape watching the wood burn.

The food: As mentioned earlier, the 4 course meal was their special that night. They offered a range of fresh seafood (seafood martini, scallop bisque, etc.) paired with some traditional greens. The food was off the chart delicious. It was so good that my predictable girlfriend actually ate shrimp and duck.

The entertainment: Alright, now this was not my cup of tea. Granted, there was an older crowd there and not too many 23 year olds spend their NYE in solitude, NY. The band was good, played some classics, and even interacted with the crowd. It just wasnt the right act to play inside of a log cabin while people dine. Imagine a band playing a concert full blast while you sat and ate your good food.

LBD scale- I give this place a strong 7. I definitely want to go back there. It seems like a very cozy place to hang out in the winter. Scale down the music, pump up the fish and game.
