Best garbage plates on the west side! Any time I am in Brockport I have to stop in and get one (mac salad and home fries). Lots of interesting food combinations, it's sure to have something for everyone.
They serve ice cream that is out of this world. I had the new cinnamon toast crunch sundae and it was unreal. Jimmy knows a thing or 2 about food! A must stop if you are in Brockport.
Ahhhhh Jimmy Z's....whenever I look back on my college memories I will always think of you!! From the mac and cheese bites to the milkshakes to the garbage plates to the poutine to my roommate making out with your dog...need I say more.
PERFECT place to go to when you've been out to the bar all night. They are conveniently open late. It can get extremely over-crowed here. He should take over the business next door.
The food here was truly a party in my mouth. The food was usually consistent, however, some of it would be cold here and there. This place is truly a symbol of the town. If you're coming to Brockport, it's necessary that you come here, NO EXCUSES!!
Sadly I won't be coming back because I will be graduating. Your food will always have a place in my heart! I had my first garbage plate here...
This is a real hometown family type place. Loved the atmosphere. That alone got a star. We stopped for a quick lunch of hot dogs and onion rings. The hit dogs had thick skins and were served butterflied and grilled. I guess you have to like that. I personally don't care for skins and I think they should tell you that. They make and awesome meat sauce for the top of your dog. I'd go back here if I'm in the area again.
Review Source:The College-Town Dive... As an Art Form.
Every college town has one - a little place that offers inexpensive meals, with late-night hours, slinging American favorites like burgers and fries at hungry college kids and tipsy townies.
Rarely, however, is this staple of American fare done with such quality, value, and creativity. Â
If you're looking for good burgers, fries, wings, and dogs, Jimmy Z's has them in spades  Every item offers real bang for your buck.  They also offer pulled pork and tortilla bowl salads, if you're not a burger joint person.
Jimmy has gone a step beyond that, however. Â The menu also features some innovative combinations and dishes that, as I said above, take the typical fare and elevate it to something interesting and different, all while remaining within the "theme." Â Some favorites - The Superfreak, a bacon cheeseburger topped with macaroni and cheese bites; The Dr. Feelgood, a bacon cheeseburger topped with waffle fries and nacho cheese; The Fat Farm, a cheeseburger topped with two fried eggs. Â
Of course, if you're hungry, or just ambitious, there's the "5-Star Plate," one of the best interpretations of the classic Rochester Garbage Plate ever, or the Jimbozilla, which is mac salad, french fries, tater tots, a cheeseburger patty, a chicken finger, and crutons, all topped with gravy and melted mozzarella cheese. Â Yes, all in one dish, for $7.25 at this writing. Â
It's not just dinner, though. Â Jimmy Z's offers a large variety of desserts, including ice cream, milkshakes, and our favorite, fried cheesecake bites. Â
For the kids, Jimmy Z's also offers great kids meals, with ice cream. Â
The service is friendly, and the place has a real neighborhood feel. Â Jimmy or someone from his family are almost always there, and they get to know their regular customers by order after only a few visits. Â
The decor is worth a visit if you like sports, rock and roll, or just fun memorabilia. Â Stop in and you'll see.
My son summed it up best on a recent visit: "Dad, we're lucky to have the only Jimmy Z's in the world here in Brockport."
Love Jimmy's after a night out. Â When the college is in session this place always has a line out the door. Â The chicken fingers and gravy fries are amazing! Â Jimmy (the owner) is always around, too, which is nice to see. Â He seems to care a lot about customer satisfaction. Â I definitely recommend trying this place!
Review Source:Oh the drunken memories of undergraduate life at dear old SUNY Brockport. Chances are if you went to any off-campus parties while attending Brockport. you also somehow ended  up at Jimmy Z's between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m...And mysteriously, whether you had money or not, you also ended up with a garbage plate.
It could have just been because we were sleep deprived and too drunk, but my roomie and I always thought that a garbage plate of chicken fingers, mac salad and home fries was the most delicious concoction.
Now with the tag of good food for young drunkies...you must be wondering what this place is like during the daytime? Actually pretty decent. During the summer, Jimmy usually had specials for free or cheap ice cream (which my roomie and I also indulged in) and his prices for "hots" and burgers were always pretty cheap from what I remember. It was a decent place to sit around on Main Street once the weather got warmer.
Jimmy and/or his dad are usually around. They are both pretty nice guys.
This place is booming on weekend nights but very quiet during the day.
So, if you're going off to college at SUNY Brockport, you might as well go down to 53 Main and introduce yourself now!
The Perfect Post - Binge Drinking Meal.
a.) Located in a drinking town with a college problem, Jimmy Z's is a locally owned burger and hot place that takes it to the next level.
Open Late - This Greasy (but not too greasy) dee-lite will tame the draft beer munchie hunger created from thirteen of those  "dollar brews" you had down the street.
b.) Food is of excellent quality - mastered the "Garbage Plate" variation
(Jimmy calls it a "Five Star Plate", and it is no lie...)
c.) YES, they have Ice Cream as well.....
Good Location - Better than Good Service - Good Prices
I have been here sober and can attest that everything is of good quality...
P.S. Ummm.....Mac and Cheese bites.....Delish.
