We had a family lunch here just before leaving Williamsburg for a long drive home. We checked Yelp, looking for a place that would suit everyone from our 4 year old to Grandma. The lunch buffet at Jimmy's was a great choice. Pizza for the kids, hot vegetables & 3 different types of meat entrees. The service was a bit slow but the food was great, especially the butternut squash soup. We're only in Williamsburg once or twice a year but we will be back.
Review Source:I went tonight for a fundraiser dinner (for the Historic Triangle Senior Center). I loved it!!! The place is a bit far... (my office is Visiting Angels in Newport News). I got the she-crab soup, seafood treasure (scallops wrapped in bacon, fried oysters, stuffed fried shrimp with a bed of grilled veges, and spoon bread with brandy butter sauce. Everything had a perfect temperature, great taste, fresh, wonderful. I would def go back again... maybe at my next shopping trip at the outlets!!! Thanks Mo for a great experience!!
Review Source:Excellent food... Mac n cheese great.. Alaska boil great price $21.. service a touch slow but good
Coming back from a fun, action packed day at Busch Gardens, we missed the exit I wanted to stop at and grab some grub for the family. Â We took the following exit and decided to stop off at the next joint that looked half-way good.
I was very happy at the end of our meal that I missed the exit, because we thought Jimmy's was a gem to find.
It's kind of a mix of pizza joint and seafood restaurant. Â Which my wife and I took advantage of both. Â Very causal, there was a young squad of girls from a softball game in there eating when we got seated.
My son wanted Mac 'n Cheese, which we ordered for him. Â It was really, really good! Â They made it with with penne pasta and REAL shredded cheese. Â I'm not a big M&C guy, but found myself nibbling on his while cooling it off and waiting for my food. Â =)
They did have a menu with specials and I got the Alaska Boil for $21.00, man I thought it was a steal, once my food came out. Â I got at least 2 pounds of steamed snow crab legs, a pound of shrimp, lots of mussels, an ear of corn and boiled potato's, plus at the end I got my choice of a ice cream-tini or bread pudding. Â $21.00! Â it was a lot of food and all of it was awesome!
My wife got a small Greek pizza, that had tomato's and feta cheese on top of the normal cheese. Â She thought it was pretty good as well.
Service was a little slow and we had to wave down our waitress a few time, but she always got us what we needed.
Looks like a place trying to up-scale itself with cooler and fancier menu items, the food works.. least mine did. Â The atmosphere is still pizza joint.
We stopped on the way back to DC from Norfolk. On the hunt for something other than the typical fast food road tripping food, this was exactly what we were looking for. $4.99 all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar ... bump it up to $7.99 (or something like that), and you add all-you-can-eat pizza, too! Â The corn chowder hit the spot, especially for the two of us, since we were overcoming colds. Â
My fiance went the pizza route - I took one bite (to see if I wanted to, too!) and decided it was just so-so. Â Pizza has to be realllly amazing to have me go for it. Â In this case, there just wasn't enough sauce, and the crust was a bit doughy in taste (not in texture). Â They boasted several varieties at the buffet and replenished it frequently.
The menu you looked pretty diverse, so seems to be something for everyone.
The place was comfortable and homey -- you could tell there were lots of regulars -- and our server was attentive and sweet (the manager on duty, on the other hand, was decidedly unfriendly and wore a frown on her face both when we entered and exited).
Good food at reasonable prices. You can take the whole family out for a well prepared and served meal. Fried seafood was served hot and fresh. The clam chowder was from scatch and enjoyed by all. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to support a local family run establishment.
Review Source:Our waitress happily led us to a nice sunny booth - for a highway-side restaurant, its decor was great (nice and light with lots of space) - and sat us down. My friend and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and a turkey club with fries respectively, but the menu was pretty diverse (it ranged from the basic American to seafood, pasta, salad bar, etc). Our sandwiches were great and the fries were perfect.
It's a good family restaurant and there were a few groups there, but it wasn't too loud. Jimmy's was a very fulfilling dining experience!
I've eaten here too many times to count and it's always pretty good. Â The clam pasta is one of my favorites and the pizza crust is just thick enough and just crispy enough. Â The white pizza is delicious but I haven't had any pizza there I haven't liked yet. Â It's kind of a local place so don't expect anything fancy or stellar service but it's a perfect neighborhood type place.
