Popped in here for some lunch vittles, during our annual ride thru Lassen.

Great ambiance and service, with outdoor seating and attitude from our server.  Top it all off with home baked breads, pregnant little ground squirrels, house cured meats and you've got some good times in the Sierras.

We look forward to a return visit.

Had breakfast here and the food was great, big servings and good selections on the menu.

However, the ladies working at this restaurant could use a lesson in hospitality and customer service. In times when we did actually get to sit down and eat ( yes, they shoo you away when they are the slightest bit of busy) the service was not great at all. Would it kill the waitress to smile and be pleasant?

Diners beware: On multiple occasions the women at the counter have discouraged us from eating there complaining that they "only have one chef" and blah blah blah. Especially, if you're making the trip to Old Station to try JJs, this can be super disappointing. Not to mention, rude.

I stopped in during an epic, long-distance bike trip. Lassen Park was closed due to fires and the whole valley surrounding Old Station was smoked out like a Three-6 Mafia concert. JJ's delivered the goods. The portions were incredibly generous, the waitress was very hospitable and friendly, the food tasted amazing and fresh (the bread was made in the bakery next door and the meat was house cured) and the blackberry pie a la mode was on point. They also had vegetarian options, which was important for my girlfriend. A very filling and tasty lunch and dessert for two was had at a very reasonable price. I hear the proprietors winter in Arizona so I think this place is only a summer spot. There's not much reason to be in Old Station during winter anyway.

Stopped on the way back to Reno and was not disappointed in the other reviews for this hidden gem. If you find yourself in the general area, this is a MUST stop.  I had the corn beef hash with egg and "pancake".  The hash (as the waitress described) was cured and spiced by the chef - AMAZING!!!!  The "pancake" was actually two that were more than a meal in themselves.  My wife and son were impressed with their selections and we have a difficult time deciding on what to order as everything on the menu (plus the pies, strudels and breads) looked terrific.

Weather was nice and we should have enjoyed the patio sitting but the atmosphere of the 6 tables and the family feel inside was terrific.

WOW!!!  We were just passing through town and happened on this place for lunch.  This small place in the middle of nowhere was amazing.  We had skipped breakfast so we were all rather hungry.  The food was incredibly good and the portions were large.  They bake their own bread, make their own soup and cure their own corned beef and smoke their own pastrami.  We had pastrami sandwiches that were fabulous and my wife had a french dip that she could only eat half of.  She said that the coleslaw (also home-made) was the best.  The prices were reasonable too.  We bought some sticky buns to take home and I can't wait to try them tomorrow.  It's a husband and wife that own the place.  She waited on us and he was in the kitchen.  The place was very busy but the service was quite fast and friendly too.  I wish that they were a lot closer to home so we could eat here often.

Do not miss this place! Amazing burgers (local grass fed beef) and baked goods. Service is perfect - all pro staff.
