Drinks are cheap and they have shuffle board. Â We were making our way back from Jack Pine Brewery in Brainerd and stopped in as they had a Friday evening (5pm) meat raffle going on. Â
There are two places. Â The upstairs which seems to be more sit down seating and the downstairs where the meat is raffled and the drinks are drank. Â The Breezy area has a little gem of place here.
This is the place to come on a Saturday afternoon and it's raining outside. If you can't be out on the lake, JJ's is a decent alternative. They have Bar Bingo on Saturday afternoons so why not try to make some cash...Im not sure what time it starts. We arrived at about 330 and they were half way through. The drinks are ridiculously cheap....a round of 2 beers, a bloody, and a soda was $11. And their happy hour of $1 fries or $1 burgers cant be beat.
Review Source:It can be confusing to out-of-towners but the Commander is the bar/restaurant upstairs and JJ's Pub is the bar/restaurant downstairs. They are both worth checking out but JJ's is a little more casual and has slightly less food options. This a great spot to grab a drink, play some bingo, rip some pull tabs, grab a burger, throw back some cold ones, and listen to some live music. Service at the bar is always top notch but you might be waiting for a while for a waitress if you choose to sit at a table as this place can get very busy with tourists and locals alike. Unlike some other bars in the area there is no patio or view of the lake, but they more than make up for it with their great specials/prices.
Review Source:Cheap, strong mixed drinks, often a life band and shuffeboard. What more do you need? It is a standard norther Minnesota bar. You can be comfortable in your swim suit and a cover up, jeans and a t or whatever...only the locals on the prowl or obvious out-of-towner suburbanites treat it any differently than the solid dive bar it is.
