This was the worst food and service that I have had in years when we dropped by on a Saturday for lunch. Four of us tried the place and agreed it was a disaster except the waitress was pleasant. Our food was cold, tasted like it was from a can too. Eat anywhere else that this train wreck of a restaurant! Less than one star ranking.
Review Source:I have grandparents out near Fayetteville, and I make a point to eat at Joe's every time I visit now. This is country cookin' at its finest. The wait is quite long, but that just means they're taking extra care cooking your food, right? It's really cheap, it's REALLY good, and the service is friendly, country style. Awesome. Must go. One word of caution: It's always so good that I overeat, try for dessert, and leave feeling miserable... but it's just too good!
Review Source:Any Yelper who reads this better make this a prime destination on their foodie adventures. I dropped into Fayetteville, TX on the way to Houston not thinking much of something called "Joe's Place." Heck, aren't all of the good down-home eateries something along the lines of "Aunt Sue's" or "Big Momma's Kitchen"?
Well, let me tell you what, I have traveled across the lands and plains to eat good Southern cookin', and I can honestly say this is one of my most memorable stomach-filling, Southern-comfort meals that I have ever had.
Sure everyone was hospitable and local, but really... the food blew me away.
Let us expound upon this notion of Solomon's true approval. The special chicken fried pork sounded good. So did mac and cheese and scalloped potatoes as my side. The 45 minute wait to get my grub on? Wow.
Well, out came the most tender tenderized pork cutlet ever. Encased in the crispiest crust ever. Covered in the most flavorful jalapeno-bacon gravy ever. Let us rewind. I have never had a CFP, jalapeno-bacon gravy, OR neither served with scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were rich, cheesy, and creamy. The mac and cheese may have been homemade and carefully crafted, but it tasted simple, no-frills, and not gourmet; Â sometimes you just need a basic shell and cheese side.
I left stuffed to the seams. I vouch for Joe's 100%. This is a dining must. Heck, I was probably the only Asian to ever drive through F-Ville, much less stop and chat for a near hour and a half. I had a great time, and I am certain that you will too.
Talk about the best Chicken Fried Steak ever! Â I only allow myself to eat CFS about 1-2 times per year, though it's probably my most favorite home cookin' dish. Â Joe's had the perfect portion size, seasoned just enough, and topped with really great homemade cream gravy. Â I went with a loaded baked potato and salad as my side options, though they had a variety to choose from. Â (mashed potatoes, twice baked potatoes, green beans, fried okra, mac-n-cheese, etc) Â It appeared that everything in this cute little Texas restaurant was homemade from scratch. Â (The ranch dressing on my salad was the best I've had in ages). Â It's located in the town square which is full of equally old and adorable antique and art shops. Â My grandpa insisted that we finish off our hearty lunch with the homemade peach cobbler, a la mode, of course. Â It might have been the best peach cobbler I've ever tasted! Â The ice cream also appeared to be homemade. Â I plan to make this dining experience a tradition with my grandpa. Â Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that they have daily lunch specials to choose from that include the entree, two sides, an iced tea AND cobbler all for $6.25. Â Can't beat that with a stick!
