Yuck! This place is back to disgusting-ville. It doesn't seem to matter because this space is listed for lease on http://loopnet.com and it listed as "available as of July 2013".

A wonderful, family run Italian restaurant. The lasagna and the pizza are wonderful. We were a group of 6 and tried various items on the menu. Everything was great.

Friendly folks, good service and good food at reasonable prices. Check it out, I think you will like it!

Eh, they used to be pretty good, but then I think they revamped their layout and menu and now its not very good to me.

Wonderful staff and great food!

Let me start off by saying that I am 18 weeks pregnant. I called in a pickup order and when I got there, the gentleman escorted me to the back to pay rather than having me wait in a smoke filled bar :) Everyone staffed that night was very firendly!

Now the food:
HUGE portion!
The bread is ok, but I've had better.
Alrferedo sauce was to die for and even tasted great when I had leftovers for breakfast the next morning!

I will be eating there (or getting takeout at least) much more often :)

The only reason it goesn't get 5 stars is because it's a tiny place and the smoking section can still be smelled in the non smoking section.

If I could give this place less of a rating I would. Upon walking in my husband and I were hit in the face with the WORST smell! It smelt like the grease trap in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned out in ages. Then, when a waitress did walk up she smelt so strongly of stale cigarettes I had to cover my mouth. The table was visibly dirty and the booth was tiny and sticky. I didn't even sit down all the way before my husband and I decided to get up and leave. Unfortunately we will never know how good the food is, because we will never return.

My hubby and I have been there 2x's both were majorly lacking, The first time took a very long time to get our food, My lasagna wasn't great, I prefer the frozen staffers. A Free months later we decided to try again, maybe it was an off night. 2nd time was worse, I ordered the pizza and my Hubby the fettuccine Alfredo. After ordering about 30 min later, after having to ask for refills on our drinks, I inquired about our food, they said it should be out soon. 15 more min go by, my 3 year old is getting very antsy. We ask again then to be told there is a back up at the pizza oven because of a lot of to go orders. (If i would have known that I would have tried something else) It was about another 15 min before we get our food (nearly and HOUR after we ordered) My pizza was good (probably why all the to go orders) but my husbands Alfredo looked like the cooked it right away and then it was under a heat lamp for the 45 min my pizza took. 2 visits, 2 bad experiences. We won't go back.

I had the best bruschetta in my life at this place!! I couldn't stop eating it. I begged my mom to not eat the last piece and my dad didn't even get a taste. My poor brother was left with the tomatoes and cheese that fell off the bread.

There are several vegetarian choices here. I had the portobello marciliana (??) and it floored me. Brother had the chicken Parmesan and it was inhaled immediately. He gave it a 6.5/10. Chicken Parmesan wasn't overly breaded he said.

They deliver but it has to be $20 worth of food. Very easy to achieve.

The older lady who served us was very pleasant. She may have been the co-owner. This place is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere!

I have been eating at Joey's since 2006 when they were still in downtown Denton. Every week, after my son's guitar lesson, we would always go to Joey's. Now that he's moved closer to Aubrey we come in more often for dinner or order to-go.

Joey (Owner) and his staff have always been friendly and courteous and made us feel at home. The restaurant is casual dinning and the bar was expanded to include tvs, games, and live entertainment (check with them on dates/times).

I have been to many Italian restaurants locally and abroad, but I always feel the best are owned by true Italian's. Joey's is one of these restaurants.

The meal comes with a nice rustic Italian bread that will soak up that marinara sauce. Joey's Salad is my favorite as it has a very nice vinaigrette dressing and nicely cooked filet mignon. The calamari seems to be my family's and friend's favorite appetizer.

You will get no chain restaurant pizza at Joey's. The pizza here is like the typical Neapolitan style pizza sliced BIG with lots of toppings. The largest size they have is great for parties!! YUMMY!!

I will wrap this up with my favorite dish the Ravioli di Pollo (Chicken ravioli) which has a very nice creamy tomato sauce with sauteed garlic and basil.

Make sure you have a cappuccino and some tiramisu or a cannoli to end your evening!

GET THE SHRIMP IT ROCKS - I am picky about shrimp, this by far beats any shrimp I have had
I adore Joey, he is so lovely and nice to visit with and we enjoyed a great night when the tornado's were

The place is nothing fancy but you will always feel at home & the food is wonderful ~ my suggestion would be the homemade Capri salad which is the delish homemade mozzerella cheese w/ fresh basil & tomato
I split the appetizer plate w/ a couple of people which was mostly fried but I must say the calamari was good and I liked the zuccini
Oh the pizza is good but the Calzone w/ Sausage & Jalepeno is DEVINE
They recommended other stuff so will be back to enjoy & give another review but for me I am happy to return & visit w/ Joey
Also, the Cappuccino is YUM ;~D

He added games and they have a bunch of televison so come to Mav Game. Also, he plays movies so it is a great place to hang

Not a fan. My husband had been wanting to try this place for awhile but we don't get out much, so when we do, I like to go to some place I know and trust. We agreed to try it takeout the first time. He ordered a pizza and I ordered fettuccine alfredo. We also ordered salads and were told that we'd get bread.

They told me it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I got there right after 10 minutes. There was no hostess so I just stood there for a couple minutes until a girl rolling napkins came up front. I told her I had a to go order and she pointed through a door to the bar and walked away. I think it's complete bs that I have to sit in a stinky, smokey bar to wait on my to go order. Anyway, I go to the bar, wait 5 minutes and finally someone comes up to the bar to drop food for people sitting there. I give her my name and she tells me it's not ready yet. At this point, it's been more than 15 minutes since I placed the order. I asked her if it would further delay the order if I added a couple meatballs to the order. She said no and that the meatballs would be ready right away; it the was the pizza that was holding things up.

Fifteen minutes later, she brings me my check, which somehow totals almost $40 and 5 minutes after that, I got my food. Went home grouchy and smelling like smoke. Food sucked. My alfredo sauce had no flavor. It was like something you'd make with a packet and milk or something. It was also cold. Pretty sure it was ready first and just sat there. My husband said his pizza was okay but not worth the price by a long shot. The meatballs weren't bad, we didn't get the bread and the salads weren't great and way overpriced.

The only way I would ever go back here is if I had a giftcard given to me or something. Even then, I might try to sell it on ebay or something for half price.

Joey's is over-rated. The owner is very nice, he is very personable and he comes around to greet the customers, but this level of customer service is not reflected in the staff.

The kitchen and wait service were slow and inconsistent and the food was bland at best. We went with another family so we had two checks for the table. The waiter, who obviously couldn't handle a table of eight, decided to be a sly fellow and charge us each a 20% gratuity for very POOR service.

Anybody that has ever traveled to Italy and eaten in an Italian home or restaurant would know that "authentic" Italian food and Italian-American food are two different breeds. The bland food that we had at Joey's was certainly "authentic" and no different from the bland "authentic" food we ate in Italy.

This restaurant is not worth going to. Save your money and go to Olive Garden instead.

Hubby and I went to Joey's for our first anniversary celebration just because we live nearby, and I've always wanted to see if it was "authentic" Italian food. Being a New York Sicilian myself and a recent transplant to the area, I was very concerned that there would only be Olive Garden chain types of restaurants which are nothing like the real thing! Now when I say "real thing" I supposed I mean NY Italian, because seriously the Italian food in America is NOTHING like the food in Italy, it's been Americanized, but I was accustomed to growing up in an Italian neighborhood where the food was what it was, authentic NY Italian! I went to the website and read the story of Joey Picca, the owner and figured either he was the real thing or a really good liar. The only way to tell for sure was to sample the goods myself. So off on our mission we went.

Not only did we have the BEST ever waiter(we both drank enough to forget his name), but when he found out it was our anniversary, he called Joey over to talk with us and was thrilled to find out we were authentic Italians, with ancestor's from Sicily! We laughed and joked and had a great time. Joey is a real sweetheart! He upgraded our wine selection at no charge and gave us the royal treatment. The food was VERY good, and about as real as it gets. Hubby ordered the Bistecca In Cartoccio (NY strip steak cooked in wine and mushrooms) and I ordered Gamberi (shrimp) francese, (lightly fried and cooked in a butter lemon sauce), both of which were excellent, as well as the side of spaghetti cooked to perfection. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. The highlight of the evening was the cannoli for dessert. I haven't had a good cannoli in about 30 years and this was off the charts good! Joey came back to make sure we were happy with everything and suggested we go over to the other side where the bar is to enjoy some live music. We wanted to stay because we felt so welcome that we followed the advice and ordered a couple of drinks and enjoyed some music. We were there about 3 1/2 hours total.

All in all a great experience, and now I feel like I have a true paisano(Italian friend) nearby. The prices are a bit steep, but for us totally worth it. Sure, we could find cheaper Italian food, but it wouldn't be what we were looking for. The only downside to this situation is that we live so close that I could become addicted to eating at Joey's in which case I will wind up eating too much and paying for it later by having to go on a serious diet! I'm hoping to get friendly enough with Joey to snatch up that awesome cannoli filling recipe....who knows? I think next week we'll order a pizza!

As I started to write this review I'm beginning to ask myself why I don't go to Joey's more often than once every few months considering it is right down the street from my house. I'll drive all the way to Frisco or Denton to go to a chain like Olive Garen or Carino's ... when Joey's is RIGHT THERE! Clearly I need to make better life decisions!

Anyhow, aside from my under-patronage of Joeys... this place is legit.

The restuarant is divided with a small bar on one side and the actual restaurant on the other. The bar is good if you want a quick drink, want to smoke (I think you can smoke on that side), listen to live music, or watch a game.

The other side of the restuarant is well decored with some wall murals and the typical things you'd expect to see in an italian restaurant like the candle centerpieces, etc.

The food is outstanding. It tastes like its made from REAL ingredients NOT a generic Cisco product with some fresh cheese sprinkled on it. I read on here that Joey (who you'll often find hanging out at the restaurant) apparently prefers "real" ingredients. I can't confirm that but I have no doubts when I taste the food.

I highly recommend the Bruschetta. It is made fresh with ripe tomato, basil, and cheese with a sprinkling of olive oil. Never in my life have such basic ingredients tasted so phenominal!

In terms of ordering off the menu, everything is good. I order something different every time and love it.

If you're in the area and want a great meal at a fair price this is the place for you.

This is great Italian food from a true, native Italian. You might notice the small, black-and-white pictures hung around the walls. These aren't just a decorating scheme -- they're actually family pictures of the owner, Joe. Get him to tell you about the people in the pictures. There are some great stories.

Our waitress said that when she first started working there, she asked Joe when the Sysco truck would arrive, and he scoffed and said, "What truck?!" In other words, the quality of the ingredients here is top-notch, as Joe apparently hand-picks all of his ingredients from local providers. Joe makes his own mozzarella di bufala, and it's amazing. Try the caprese salad to get a taste of it! He also makes his own bread, which is excellent.

The calamari is also fantastic (lightly breaded, and never chewy). And even though I usually hate fettucini alfredo, this was the first fettucini alfredo that I've actually liked. It wasn't too rich, wasn't too creamy. It was perfect. All of the dishes are reasonably priced, and there are drink specials all the time. As someone who lived in Italy for a while, I can tell you that it's as close to authentic Italian food as you can get in the DFW area.

The first time I ate at this place, I sat in the bar. The bar was quaint and thin. There was a cool barmaid there that kept us company and made for good conversation, which helped the visit out a bit, considering I was a bit upset with the price of things. The restaurant is very nice and classy looking, so you might feel like you're underdressed if you're showing up in a t-shirt and board shorts.
Another time, I was driving by and noticed that they had a placard up on the side of the road advertising a lunch buffet for $7.99. I thought that sounded pretty reasonable, so I stopped by for a visit. Much to my dismay, the host informed me (with a tinge of condescension) after I asked him about the buffet, that it only goes on during the week (it was a Sunday) and referenced the advertisement posted on their window ("like the sign says"). I curtly told him that while I acknowledge the sign in the window, it was the sign on the side of the road that brought me into the place, as I can't see the sign in the window of a shop that is 20 meters from the road, on which I travel 65 miles per hour. That small exchange left me a bit heated, and I promptly left.

Given this jackasses' reception, and the cost of the food, I might be inclined to travel a bit further if I'm ever in the mood for Italian food. Maybe sometime later in the future I'll check them out again.... not any time soon though.
