Jr's Restaurant

On our way back to Plano, Tx we stayed in a really nice motor home park (Antique Village RV Park) in a little town called Simsboro, Louisiana.  When we asked for suggestions for dinner the ladies told us to try JR's Place. Wow, what a surprise we had at this little town restaurant!  We were greeted by the owner and soon felt like a local. There were so many great things on the menu to choose from that JR worked me up a sample platter with a pork chop, country fried steak and fried shrimp.  Now we have lived in Texas for 20 yrs. but that was the most tender and favorable country fried steak I've had.  The pork chop was seasoned just right and tender as well and the shrimp were great. My husband had the pot roast over mash potatoes that he enjoyed as well, but the unbelievable  treat of the night, besides the people, was the seafood gumbo and dumplings that JR's son Jack made ... Unbelievable!!! If you are ever in the area don't miss this little gem of a restaurant. Thanks for making our evening so enjoyable!!
