Junction Restaurant

After driving up and down both streets in this town, we settled on pretty much the only restaurant we found, this place...

After entering and ordering from their typical menu, a grilled cheese sandwich, I decided to use the men's room. Their restroom was closed, and inside was a floating turd in bowl, of which was fantastically boyant, enough so that I couldn't flush it with 10 pulls. I asked the staff if they could direct me to the nearest restroom (hoping to be welcomed to the Best Western lobby's restrooms). They directed me to the crack-den Subway Restaurant next door. Heeding their advise, I found a graffiti'd up Subway restroom, with a non-existent stall door.

At this point I gave up on my impending bowel movement.

Back at my table was my cold tasteless grilled cheese sandwich. The bread texture was identical to the 99c air filter you can buy at Home Depot, and the taste was about halfway to a Matzo cracker.

To top it off, our waiter served me the check before I was even halfway through eating.

P.S: This restaurant is staffed by Best Western, an INTERNATIONAL hotel chain. FYI, that doesn't make the list of qualifications for "local business".

We've only been here once and we only tried the Navaho style food.  We thought the food was average in comparison to similar restaurants. However, there aren't a lot of choices in Chinle so I'd definitely eat here again.

Ate dinner here in mid-July following a full day of exploring the Canyon. Among the four in our group we ordered the beef & beans, posole, lamb stew, and a burger. Everyone got a choice of fry bread or a Navajo tortilla (3 out of 1 chose fry bread). The service was almost too-attentive, at least when it came to drinks. There must have been 4 different individuals who came and asked if we needed refills even before our glasses were empty sometimes. The only glitch was that one of us had ordered lemonade but we weren't told when the refill question came up that lemonade refills aren't free. So when the bill arrived, we found we had 5 drinks for 4 people. Our waitress explained the situation and apologized but didn't offer to comp the drink. Oh well. It wasn't worth making a stink over.
The portions here are HUGE! Easily enough to share between two people if you so choose. And while the dishes were bland straight out of the kitchen, our requests for extra green chiles were met without hesitation and I'd frankly rather have to salt and pepper my food myself than eat some of the over-salted stuff that sometimes comes out of kitchens.
Bottom line, definitely worth a visit if you're in town. You won't leave hungry OR thirsty!
