It's great to have a new restaurant in the lakes region. Too bad the food is below average. I ordered a shrimp salad for lunch. Â The salad was ordinary, and there were only four small soggy shrimp served with it. Â They weren't grilled either! Â My husband had a pork BBQ sandwich, but the BBQ sauce tasted and looked like it was mostly ketchup. Â Our server did a super job of explaining the house specialty crush drinks and convinced me to try a "crusharita". But jeez, Even the special drink was forgettable and disappointing.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient and the bartender took the time to connect with us. The water view setting is pretty. Location is convenient. Â That said, Patrick's Pub is less than 1/4 mile away, and it's a much better place to eat and offers a more vibrant pub ambiance. Â I sincerely hope that Junior's steps up their game and finds someone who can actually cook and make memorable drinks so they have a chance of still being in business after the summer season.
Went to Junior's Crush House for my second time last night. Â The first time I stopped in was to try their crush drinks before a concert at meadowbrook. Â If you're not familiar with crush drinks, they are alcoholic concoctions with fresh squeezed fruit juice over crushed ice. Â I had the "Ruby Red Crush" with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Â It was amazingly refreshing, and the perfect drink on a hot day.
Last night I brought two friends and we had dinner and tried a few more crush drinks. Â "Junior's Crush" is similar to a Mai Tai, but with the fresh squeezed juice, it blows any Mai Tai I have ever had out of the water.
Now on to the food. Â We got to the restaurant a little late so we decided to take it easy on the kitchen and not order full out dinner entrees. Â I literally wanted to try everything on their menu, but we ended up going with 2 Reuben sandwiches and the Haddock sandwich between the 3 of us. Â We literally licked our plates clean. Â The Ruben was very tasty and I highly recommend it. Â The Haddock tasted fresh and was nice and flaky. The bar service was great and we were very please with our drinks and meals. Â
I can't wait to come back again, enjoy the outdoor seating and play some cornhole (bags) on the patio. Â I also need to get back and try some of the dinner entrees. Finally there is another place to go other than Patrick's around this part of town. Gilford was in need of a good restaurant.
I feel Junior's is going to have great success at this location with the marina across the street and Meadowbrook around the corner. It's a great restaurant to go to off the boat, or by car with the family. Â Â I highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area and trying one of the Crush drinks.
The atmosphere was nice. Service was good. The restaurant is called crushers because of their muddled drinks. I was very surprised that there was not at least one traditional mojito option.  The food was ok, but the portions were small for the price. $22 for a small piece of haddock that had a very small side of veggies. The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce with a few thin slices of carrot and a slice of tomato. The seafood Alfredo was very tasty, but at $22.00 a plate, I would have expected more. The garlic bread that  accompanied the meals was tasty, but very small pieces. The calamari appetizer was good.
It is convenient to the marina across the street, but after paying over $70 for 1 app, 2 meals, 2 drinks and leaving hungry....I would go next door to Patricks Pub.
