I have heard about Kens for years and finally decided to go check it out. Â Came in and got seated without waiting. Â Very nice and efficient waitress took care of our table. Â Very simple but fresh salad bar. Â They gave the table 4 ribs to try. Â They were just ok. Â I ordered the Prime Rib with baked potato. Â The baked potato was done in foil so it tasted more steamed than baked. Â It was served with mounds of Butter and sour cream. Â I ordered the Prime rib rare. Â It was served more like medium rare. Â It was the toughest and smokiest prime rib I've ever had. Â If you really love smoke this is the place for you, it was way over the top for my taste. Â That meal with a drink and tip was $33. Â A bit high for a meal of that quality. Â I won't be going back but it's worth a one time trip just for the hole in the wall experience.
Review Source:I heard alot of good things about this place so I decided to try it out. I was not impressed at all. The tables are really small and the walk ways are too so you end up almost knocking dishes onto the floor. I ordered the prime rib medium well and it came out medium rare so I had to send it back for them to cook it more. My friends steak was the same deal. I would say the steaks are average for a steakhouse. The steak knives on the other hand are really dull and poor quality, we all had to work to tear are steaks into peices. I didn't like how the baked potatoe came out plain and the sour cream on the side tasted like it had wasabi in it. The free ribs they set out in a basket were tough and dry.
Bottum line is I would not return if this place was across the street from me let alone a 50 minute drive.
Been here twice and had to drive 30-45 minutes to get there. I find it worth the drive to experience this quality of food in a zero traffic light town. Each time I had the prime rib, and each time it was superb. GET THERE EARLY as they are only open a few days a week starting at 5:30 and the line begins to form shortly after. Easy 5 star. And my first 5 star rating. Skeeter
