    Paninis, soups, sides, desserts

4 little things and these 4 things will keep you on their list of loyal patrons. There are precious few non-chain eateries in Misery - sorry, Missouri and this is one of the little gems.

Housed in a quaint building from 1904 -

This little tea house has loads of personality and fine food. We went for tea and sat down to sun-dried tomato & pesto turkey paninis, salmon salad with toast points, and any sort of side you set your eyes on.

Time out though. Salmon salad. To Californians, this means a baked or sauteed fillet of fresh salmon crisped to a beautiful caramel on the outside, flaky and moist inside.
Missouri does not share this view. My unassuming curry salmon salad was disguised as a SALMON SALAD, as in egg salad. In fact, there were chopped eggs IN IT. Odd, a bit off - but eaten. The toast points came in handy.
What they lack on the salad front, they make up for 4xs over with the dessert. Whatever they've decided to make that day is what you get to decide on and the bread pudding alone was worth the drive from Waynesville to Crocker. Light, wet and rich, this pudding boasted a lemon sauce that was so subtle, so silky you just wanted to sit in your small corner of the place, get a blankey and eat the day away.

Like so many places in MO, the people that work here live & breath their establishment. They care if you like it, they care if you don't. Manners, spunk and a general sense of goodwill set the Midwest apart from us rushed westerners, come to The Kentucky House for a little of this and a little of that.
