Kerrigan's is as lowbrow as lowbrow gets (and not in a fun way).
When my husband and I were first dating, he came to Georgia to meet my family and asked if we could check out an authentic country bar. Â As Kerrigan's is what Toombs County has to offer, Kerrigan's was what he got. Â He's still traumatized 5 years later.
All entrants were searched and asked to check their guns & knives. Â The music was painful, vacillating between noxious new country & wannabe thug hip-hop. Â Some random guy kept wandering laps around the space, trying and failing to look cool. Â Another guy was hustled out holding a big bloody wad of paper towels against his scalp. Â It wasn't exactly a scene to engender a sense of safety.
There was line dancing: Â lots and lots of line dancing. Â People I didn't get along with in high school were still there, a decade after they had first tried to sneak in underage. Â Drinks were cheap, sure, but everything's cheap in south Georgia. Â We also found dollar bills on the floor all night, which probably tells you more about the sobriety of the patrons than anything else I've written thus far.
There's not much of a point in even writing this review. Â If you live in Vidalia or Lyons, you already know everything you need to know about Kerrigan's. Â You're either a Kerrigan's person or you're not, and ne'er the twain shall meet.
