Ah Killers.
This bar has wicked cheap pool tables, a ping pong table, some arcade machines and great beer. They usually have some standard beer on tap, with a bunch of rotating beers. Their well drinks are pretty good as well. When ever friends and I are back in Keene we say "Want to go to the bar" and 95% of the time, "the bar" is Kilkenny's. Â
I have met so many new friends while here, and reconnected with old ones. I find people are more social here than any other bar in town, except maybe the ones that focus on pool.
This is my all time favorite bar, and the only reason I am taking one star off is that they only accept cash, it's a pain when you only bring a couple bucks and have to run out to the bank. They do however have an ATM but there is a surcharge as usual.
Met some family and friends at this good college bar. Loud, dirty, cheap drinks, pool and ping pong readily available. Â Arrived around 11:30 on a Friday night looking for bar food, the kitchen was closed but they suggested we ordered Dominoes. Â We became everyone's best friend by 1am.
Jim the bartender is awesome.
Lots of booze, cigarettes, loud music, dirty floors and tables, darts, pool and all kinds of cheap shots and specials on beer. Lots of pong tournaments - the crowd is a mix of the college kids and freaky, greasy local kids from some of the shitty little villages outside Keene like Swanzey or Marlborough. Not a lot of light or comprehension of 20th century hygiene standards. Kilkenney's is a big old drunken mess, and it's absolutely great, if you're in the mood for it. Otherwise it can be pretty fucking depressing.
Review Source:Kilkenny's. Â A mixture of loudness, ping pong balls, and cheap beer. Â I haven't been back since the no smoking rule has been implemented, so I'm sure it has improved 1 millionfold. Â Really, the smoke was like a blanket inside because there was no ventilation. Â BUT if you didn't care about your lungs being healthy, and wanted a cheap beer with a game of drunken ping pong, this was the place to go.
Review Source:5 years in college at Keene State, and hundreds of nights were spent at Killkenny's... the Killah. Â A perfect mix of college bliss and terrific townies, this place is by far the best beer blaster in Keene. Â Now boasting a full-bar, Killkenny's is the place to go if you're in the mood for some games. Â Pool, ping-pong, fooseball, darts, video games, and even and old-skool pac-man sit-down table game... the fun won't stop until five minutes past last call. Â KSC Students who want to keep it real, and steer clear of the Railroad-ridden frat boy scene should definately pull up a stool and settle into the Killah for your 5+ years of higher-ed shananigans.
Review Source:The best bar in Keene! I waltzed in and it was a dream come true, all drinks were $1 (because it was Sun and the spining wheel of prices landed on $1!!!), Magic Hat #9 (the best beer ever) on tap, there was fooze ball and darts, the music was cute, locals abound including that guy with the pink devil beard and goth clothes. I liked how on Saturday nights the hot dog place next door was open too and serves veggie dogs.
I had a mental picture of what New Hampshire would be like since this was my first visit and Kilkenny Pub sort of confirmed all the good things in my Keene illusions. However the bar next door, Railroad tavern confirmed all of the bad things in my Keene illusion-so stay away from that place! My only complaint was when KORN came on the jukebox and everyone but me seemed happy about that. I am just not a KORN fan.
Thank goodness you aren't allowed to smoke in NH anymore! I can finally enjoy Kilkenny's without leaving there smelling like an ashtray! This bar seems to attract mostly locals, with Keene State College arts students (Film especially) thrown in the mix, for some very odd reason that I don't quite understand. This is the kind of place that my friends usually head to first to grab some decently priced beer, then head over to other bars afterwards, because the atmosphere isn't very inviting. I do like this place in the spring and summer however, because then they open up the outdoor seating.
Review Source:Kilkenny Pub is BY FAR the best bar in Keene. Â The sense of neighborhood and community is astounding. Â The pub stays mostly free of the college kids and hosts more of the locals and year round residents of Keene. Â They have a great open mic night. Â Good & cheap beers. Â Plus the best "bouncer" in all of the East! Â Love this place and wish that I could visit it more often.
