This place should be a solid four stars but the other day my wife (a native of Richlands) and I stopped by and the girl that was working should be fired! She was RUDE and for King Kone, completely unacceptable. This place is a local staple even though you they have no tables, no dine in, just order at the window and go. I was shocked at the first time I went but the burgers and dogs are delicious and the onion rings are great. A chili slaw with onion is the way to go IMO but that's just me.
The food is really, really good. Like I said, this should be four stars based on the food, but with the service they have now (one girl, I don't want to judge all) I can't go above three. They also forgot my sons food in the order and when we called they asked to call back tomorrow since they were now closed. That really ticked me off.
If you want uptown fancy food.. this is not it! We have a little Burger and dog stand in the Dollar Store parking lot... it has been there for over 50 years and they aren't gonna gussy up for you! They have great foot long chili slaw dogs, good hamburgers and the onion rings are amazing! The prices aren't too bad either, considering how much all the other places cost.
Face it, in Richlands, you don't have much to choose from, it's big chains now, not many Mom and Pop places left... but of the ones that are, this is one of the best.
Mt biggest complaint... the new people working there have no idea what this place was founded on! When I was a kid, I got an ice cream every day when I got off the bus, if I didn't have enough money, I could charge it and pay the next day... When I ordered my food yesterday, I was going to place my order and my mom (who has been eating there and has known the owner for 30 years!) was going to pick it up and pay... The girl very rudely informed me she would not even start to cook my food til I payed for it... That is not how you treat people... I was not asking to "charge" my order anymore, but she was going to get her money in about 5-10 minutes... Now I expect that at the Beach, ... well, not really, even there we pay when we get the food... she was just rude. And to beat all, we didn't get all our food when we were home. She needs a lesson in small town manners!
But that one person aside, it is still one of my guilty pleasures when I go home... greasy burgers sloppy dogs, and memories worth millions!
