This was a tough one to review. Â I'll give it 3 stars, but it could go up to 4 with another try. Â
Food: Started with the Hummus and Pita. Â The Hummus was very good and the presentation was very nice. Â However, the pita came in rolls which you could put the hummus on top of or maybe roll it out and eat in more of a traditional pita style. Â It was confusing to me. Â I ate them rolled up and I felt it was difficult to not get too much pita flavor and not enough hummus. Â I started to roll it out, but it was too long. Â My main course was Battered white fish, which after all was said and done, was fish and chips. Â The fish was good, but not better than anything I've had before. Â The dessert was really good. Â Ice Cream powered with cocoa to look like a baked potato.
Service: The service was good. Â Nice and friendly staff.
Decor: Here's where I have mixed feelings mainly because I'm not sure what the ownership is looking for. Â I found the decor to be interesting and it caught our attention. Â The place was nice and clean. Â The one thing that turned me off is you have to enter the same entrance as the bar. Â It's like going through Camden to see the Aquarium. Â If I'm going to get dressed up to a nice place, which this is, I don't want to go through the outside smoking area. Damn, I sound elitist. Â :)
I was interested to see what this new lounge was all about beings that I had been there many times before when it was Christi's lounge. Â The decor is nice, a little dark and the food was different..but a good different. Â No complaints, a little pricey. Â BUT, there is some kind of SMELL in there. Â As soon as I walked in it hit me and once my girlfriend walked in she said the same thing. Â It's like a moldy, mildewy water smell. Â Like sewage maybe? Â And then as we were trying to figure it out i looked over and there is some kind of water feature on the wall. Â It had to be that. Â Like it hasn't been cleaned or the filtration system on it is broken. Â It's such a shame becuase we were having so much fun, but could not take the stench anymore at one point and had to leave. Â Doesn't anyone working there smell it? Â I wanted to ask but I felt it would have been rude. Â Oh well, so much for a PERFECT new place to eat...
Review Source:I was a tad concerned when I was told that I was being taken to Kings Lounge. I immediately thought that I was being taken to a dark seedy bar. I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised.
The food was great. When we sat down we were greeted with tasty pita and hummus. For the main course, I ordered the lamb which it turned out was quite juicy and tender. For dessert my group shared a red velvet and ice cream pudding which we liked so much, that we devoured it in less than five minuets.
The atmosphere was very relaxing, I particularly enjoyed the fireplace in the corner and the tree fountain on the wall. Only noise improvement I would suggest is that they close the main doors to the restaurant to block out the dive bar next door.
What made our trip extra special was the fantastic service and attentiveness my group received. We never had to ask for a refill, and the staff was quick to make great suggestions. The manager also made it a point to stop and check on every table, something I appreciated as a customer.
Overall a fantastic dining experience and I would highly recommend this location to people looking for an alternative type dining experience with great food.
