I had to head over to Kiowa, the Elbert County Seat. Â I decided to grab lunch while I was there, so I stopped into the Kiowa Creek Cafe. Â I had wanted to go here before, but they are open Mon-Sat 7am to 2pm, and I had always been in the neighborhood on a Sunday. Â The place is not much to look at from the street, and it is a bit of a "hole in the wall". Â The inside is pretty dated, but comfortable.
However, do not let first impressions fool you. Â The food here is very good, and the service is excellent. Â The place is a bit of a "cell reception dead-zone", but they offer open and fast Wi-Fi. Â Unlike Patty Ann's cafe next door, the Kiowa Creek Cafe does accept credit cards.
My waitress and cashier was "Sam". Â She was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. Â The special of the day was three pieces of fried chicken with sides of corn and potato salad. Â Sam recommended it, and she did not steer me wrong.
The chicken was "double-fried", Â I did not catch all the cooking process details, but suffice it to say that is was some of the crunchiest coating I have ever had on chicken. Â It was also incredibly moist. Â The seasoning was very basic (maybe just some salt). Â The pieces were average-sized. Â The corn was excellent; the little bit of butter made it quite tasty, and the potato salad was just fine.
