Well............well (sigh).............First, let me say that I dont know who "Truth H." is, but I dont even know why the processor time was wasted posting that "review"
Ever have a friend that tried so hard to do something but just couldnt quite get there?  Did it sorta embarrass you for them?  Kinda same thing here.....food isnt bad, but theyre tryin too hard.
Right in the door, place looks clean, nicely arranged, albeit the spray painted stencil on the walls was kinda tacky.  There are two sides to the joint, hibachi and just regular sit down.  Hostess was quick to sit us, and the waitress was very personable.
The prices may be a little higher for some, I spent 23 bucks for steak and chicken, I dont think thats out of line since I brought food home........LET ME RESTATE THAT, I BROUGHT food home!!  That means it didnt SUCK
 Issues:
1. Â The salads are pre-rationed into bowls and covered with plastic, that allows the veg to weep into the bowls. Â If the staff doesnt drain the bowls, we get lettuce swimming in water, dont let your customers get lettuce swimming in water. Â Dont put salad in the bowls until you need to knuckleheads!!!
2. Â Your ginger sauce is bitter, get rid of it...you can message me and Ill send you a killer ginger sauce free of charge. Â Your other sauce is like water, dont thin it out so much.
3. Â How about sending the hibachi veg out so that your chef can show some knife skills instead of just bangin that damn salt shaker on the counter and thinkin thats a show.
4. Â Teach that chef that cooked for us what CROSS CONTAMINATION is, he almost allowed our veg to hang out too long next to raw chicken on the flat top. Â Disclaimer: Â I had no worries about that issue, he allowed the veg to cook enough after moving it from the chicken to satisfy my concerns. Â But perception is reality, SO DONT DO THAT.
5. Â They use a garlic butter, I guess its to add extra flavor to the food they cook.........STOP IT, if I wanted to have my palate destroyed by garlic, Id be at an Italian joint. Â Japanese food is subtle, garlic isnt..........see my point? Â Again, food isnt bad, this is about degree people..........were pickin nits here.
Now that all of that ugliness is done, on to the good stuff.
Kissho has a shot, clearly they have their shit in one sock mostly.  The experience grew on me, trust me I was a little concerned before we walked in.
We discussed the salad, it would have been fine portion wise, but the house dressing needs to be fixed (again, message me and I can fix that for ya pronto)
Our spider roll was a little pricey for 5 pieces at 7.75, but it wasnt bad....again, Ive had worse..........of course, Rain has MUCH better sushi, of course their hibachi SUCKS.
The soup?  Well, it was better than any other soup Ive had round these parts.  They need to beef up the miso and beef flavoring a bit.  Nothing a little soy sauce wont fix tho...........again, better than anything else weve had round here.
My New York Strip was a very nicely done med rare, and had a good flavor.  The chicken wasnt cooked to death dried out, it was just done and moist, there wasnt any of that nasty teriyaki crap on it either.  The rice needed a little help when it hit my plate, but next time Ill ask the chef to add some more sauce to it before I get it.  Ample veg with the plate, there was plenty of food for me, I brought home enough for lunch or a midnight snack........probably a midnight snack MOOOOOOO.
Krista's scallops were perfectly cooked, with a very nice sear.  The rest of her plate was like mine.  Again, her chicken was very well prepared, even if it did come out already cut up.
I really think we had a new chef, he just didnt perform the way the guy at the next table did.  Therefore I question whether his food was prepared as well as the other guys was.  Of course, you can argue that is a training/management issue, and I will happily agree...........but Ill counter with "this is T-county Tennessee, what do you expect?" Â
I will say our waitress was great, she was attentive to the table throughout the meal.  Taking empty plates as they were emptied, which is really nice at a hibachi joint.......she was well worth her tip.
Overall, there are some things Id like to see fixed for them to be 4 or 5 stars, they really arent that far off...........If youre up in Covington for the Auction on a Saturday night, or just in Covington because you live there or something crazy like that, give it a shot..........the early bird would cost you and your other half probably less than 40 bones out the door..........
I hope the management at KISSHO reads this. Â I am standing by to help you correct your slight sauce issues..........text me or something
They have a early bird special for round 15 bucks, but we didnt get that.  With tea, a soda, a roll, and the two plates.........68 bucks with the tip.  I didnt think that was out of line at all.  Well go back, easy
