SERIOUSLY????  This place is WONDERFUL!!  We had dinner there last night and while we were walking in we asked a couple walking out how it was and they said they hated the meal had to end.  Well, by the end of the evening our group felt the same way, we had lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs and baked Rigatoni and the Pièce de résistance, the homemade Cream Puff.  We all ordered and thankfully they had enough, as apparently they run out early in the evening normally but this was a stormy night and not as busy.  I cannot describe how phenomenal this desert was.  If you want to have a simple, but at the same time perfect dinner, please do yourself a favor and take the time to drive out of your way for this quaint dinner destination.  I couldn't wait to write this review and I can't wait for our next visit.  Thankfully it's an hour drive for us, otherwise I would become a regular and gain 40 lbs!
Review Source:After hearing friends rave about it, my wife made a reservation for us Friday night. Â Although it's out of town, it's easy to find. Â The restaurant is in what appears to be an old general store. Â There are huge beams, wooden shelves, and what look to be original windows.
My wife ordered Pa's Veal cutlet and raved about it, including even the breading being just right to her palate. I had the Shrimp Milan which was very well executed. Â I would have like one or two more shrimp, but the ones I did get were perfectly cooked. Â Perhaps my favorite part of the meal was the antipasto, which was so good, I decided to make my own this week (not quite as good, but close). Â The rolls were also quite delicious, especially when dipped in the oils from the pasta. Â They seem to have a fair selection of wines as well. My wife loved the creme puffs; I cannot comment on them as I was overexposed to creme puffs in my childhood and can't stand them now).
Service is friendly, though the kitchen is a little slow, especially when they get hopping. Â Knowing this going in, this is not a negative; I only mention it as I know quite a few people expect very fast service. Â Relax and let the food come to you and it will be enjoyable. Â Also, definitely call ahead for a table or you will wait quite a while. Â Kitchen Roselli also seems to have quite a reputation in the area and is always full; on the night we were there, the president of Wake Forest was at the next table, so I guess it's pretty classy. Â :)
One of those small town wonders. The food is phenomenal and we've always had good service. The house salad with Granny's dressing is simple with iceberg lettuce but somehow it is fresh and the dressing just right. Â The meatball appetizer has two large meatballs that are flavorful and melt in your mouth. The lasagna is a great choice and hard to forgo on subsequent visits. We tried the shrimp and it was a flavorul surprise with a great spicy and non-spicy side dip. Of course the cream puffs are a popular choice for good reason and you're best to reserve yours on a busy night. Â Worth the trip off the beaten path.
Review Source:The food is VERY VERY good. Â The portions used to be large, but they started scaling back last summer. The service is very slow. Â I don't think that it's the server's fault, but instead, the kitchen's fault. Â It is pricey for the portion size that you get. Â We have stopped going because of the poor service and the prices. Â It's in a remote location as well. Â
Recently, my husband and daughter went in and asked for two creme puffs to go. Â The owner would not sell them "just" the creme puffs - even though there were some already in a to go box in the case. Also, they do have "to go". Â They were quite upset after driving 25 minutes to get them.
This place was recommended by a friend, so my wife and I decided to try it. And we're glad we did.
It's located in what used to be a hardware store. It still has the old wood floors and shelves on the walls. Â Seating is fairly limited so you should call for a reservation. When we went, the couple in front of us got the last unreserved table, and they were the first ones in the door !!
The food we had was really good. Â My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs and I had the special of the day. We also ordered the garlic bread and the salad. Â The bread was perfect and the salad, while small, was very good. The homemade dressing is kind of like European salad crime, sweet and tasty.
We were so full,I got a creme puff to go. Â Haven't eaten it yet, but it looks great.
The wait staff was extremely friendly and very efficient. Â The owner stopped by our table for a quick chat, and she is delightful.
We will be going back soon. Â There is many more items on the menu I want to try.
Do yourself a favor, and make the drive to East Bend. Â You'll be glad you did.
We showed up at 5:20 on a Saturday. The restaurant opened at 5. Found most tables taken but 4 empty tables with a front full of waiting customers. Told they would do a second seating in 45 minutes... Very disappointing that they would not fill their tables before closing a seating. Turned out the empty tables were waiting on those who had called in to be put on a list. This is their version of reservations. Not really considered a reservation, but apparently next time if we call when we are on the way we will have a table waiting... Sounds like reservations to me.
Food was great, not as good as Sunny Italy, the predecessor to this restaurant that was in Wilkesboro. I had manicotti - really good, but the salad was not as good as Sunny Italy and the crime puffs were a bit of a disappointment, because they were covered in dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate like Sunny Italy used to have.
Overall expect my next experience to be better by calling ahead to reduce wait time.
Kitchen Roselli is a gem. We are lucky to have such a place to eat in our area. The location is special - historic in Eden - an old hardware store. The dining area is lined with old family pictures, antique dinnerware and twinkling lights. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable and obviously happy to be there. The food is delicious. On this visit I had Eggplant Parmesan. Thick cuts of fried eggplant covered with a flavorful marinara and topped with mozzarella and basil. It came with a salad that I chose - My Granny's Salad - iceberg lettuce, celery and onion. Granny's creamy Italian Dressing is not what I expected but still wonderful - sweeter than you would expect. We chose Focaccia for a starter and thank heavens we did. It was so light and perfect. On a previous occasion I had the Manicotti. HOLY HECK! It is amazing! I felt like I was eating bites of ricotta clouds. Serious! Â I was lucky enough to taste my husband's lasagna this time and that is what I intend to get on my next visit. Â And dessert... the cream puff (which is probably intended for two because of the size) was killer. Â Thanks to my few glasses of wine I imagined forgetting the fork and just plunging my face into the whole thing. Â I joke, but really, this place is delightful and quite special. Â Family owned, good ingredients made simply ...and you need to go.
Review Source:Awesome escape from Winston Salem to get some good Italian food and take in the nice charming town that is East Bend. Â The Chicken, Veal, and Eggplant Parm are all good. Â I used to get the Eggplant Rollatini until it escaped from the menu on my last visit. Â Good pasta. Â Salad and bread comes with the meal. Â Expect to pay $12-15 for an entree. Â Very reasonable wine prices. Â
Great service - clearly family owned and operated. Â Make sure it's a night they are open before you venture out there. Â I think they only open for business 3-4 nights per week. Â Be sure to reserve a creme puff on your way in - they go fast for good reason. Â Kitchen Roselli is an excellent choice for a date or gathering with old friends.
The grandmother of the owner (of Kitchen Roselli) use to own Sunny Italy in North Wilkesboro. In 2009, Sunny Italy closed. It was one of my wife's favorite restaurants. So yesterday, we tried out Kitchen Roselli. My wife had the lasagna ($13, salad included), and though it was not as good as Sunny Italy (according to my wife), she still liked it. For those of you that went to Sunny Italy while it was open, you know of their famous salad. Kitchen Roselli was very close, but not quite the same. A "My Granny's Salad" is $4.75
I had the "Family Tomato Sauce" over penne pasta with meat balls ($13, salad included). The sauce had a fresh tomato taste, but seems to have little spices. Now the meatballs were very good. The best part of my meal. The bread was also good. At Sunny Italy I use to love getting the Cream Puffs. Kitchen Roselli has them too, and I was going to get one, until I noticed they were $4.75 (What!....for a cream puff!?) Bottom Line: I sure do miss Sunny Italy.
